Chiefs coach Andy Reid tied record for most wins in history of Raiders’ stadium

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid observes players during practice at Chiefs training camp on Thursday, July 18, 2024, in St. Joseph.

Before taking any questions Sunday about the Chiefs’ 27-20 win over the Raiders in Las Vegas, coach Andy Reid took note of the crowd.

“Appreciate our fans and the support that we had from them today,” Reid said. “It’s always good when you go on the road and you’re able to have all that red up there.”

The fans made their presence known before kickoff at Allegiant Stadium, which has been lovingly dubbed Arrowhead West by Chiefs Kingdom. During the national anthem, it was clear the building was full of Chiefs fans.

Yes, the Chiefs did go on the road Sunday, but Allegiant Stadium has been a home away from home for Reid and his team.

In fact, Reid is now tied for the most coaching victories in Allegiant Stadium, which opened in 2020 with six. The Associated Press’ Josh Dubow ran down the top five: Reid and Josh McDaniels (6), Antonio Pierce (5), Jon Gruden (4) and Rich Bisaccia (3).

Reid’s total includes the Super Bowl LVIII win over the 49ers in February.

McDaniels coached the Raiders for the entire 2022 season and eight games in 2023. He had a 9-16 record with Vegas.

Here’s another fun stat: Reid and Patrick Mahomes stand alone as having the most wins of any coach-quarterback duo in Allegiant Stadium history. Again, this is from Dubow.

Chiefs linebacker Drue Tranquill, who played a big role in that pivotal goal-line stand against the Raiders, shared his support for the KC fans on his X account.
