Standing at fifth in defensive point scoring with 34 points (8+26) across 41 games, Chicoutimi Saguenéens defenseman Loic Usereau has had a strong overage campaign.

Thanks to his impressive play, he's been able to top it off with a commitment to the University of Maine for next season.

Usereau, 20, becomes the fourth QMJHLer with ties to the Maine Black Bears, behind forward Jude Herron (CHA),  defenseman Julien Wasmer (CHI) and goaltender Mikus Vecvanags (BAT, Montreal Canadiens).

After falling through the QMJHL draft, Usereau joined the league as an invitee via the Shawinigan Cataractes. He's amassed 93 points (26+67) across 169 games and counting since then, between the Cataractes and the Sags.

Undrafted to the NHL as well, Usereau brings some NHL experience to the team, having attended the Anaheim Ducks rookie camp in 2024.
