Chicago Bears rank among best defensive lines in NFL

As they have all season, the Chicago Bears have found success in large part to their defense. Not only has their defense held opponents to 21 points or less in the past 13 games, a streak they'll look to extend on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 9, but they've improved their pass rush from a season ago.

Currently, the Bears sit at 12th in the NFL with 20 sacks on the season, with Gervon Dexter Sr. leading the way with four sacks and Montez Sweat right behind him with 3.5 sacks through the first seven games. With those two leading the way as anchors of force on the defensive line, they've propelled their unit as one of the very best in the league.

Pro Football Focus put out their rankings for all 32 teams' defensive lines and after the first eight weeks of the season, and the Bears find themselves just outside the top five, landing at sixth. The team has also seen a considerable effort and production put up from Darrell Taylor who they got in a preseason trade with the Seattle Seahawks, and in limited action, he's had 15 total tackles, two sacks, a pass deflected, and force fumble.

The defense has carried this team while the offense continues to work to try and find their identity. There have been many calls for the team to get another legitimate pass rusher opposite of Sweat, but even without a second well-known name at defensive end, the Bears find themselves with one of the best defensive lines in the league.
