>>> New data from interpol is confirming that canada ranks in the top 10 of the world's worst countries for auto theft. That's right. The international law enforcement agency says more than 1500 vehicles, for example, stolen in canada have been identified by police around the world since february. The information comes after the rcmp integrated canada's database for stole an vehicles with interpol's earlier this year. The agency says thieves are attracted to canada's abundant supply of high-value models such SUVs and crossothers. >> Throughout the pandemic, the canadian government spent billions of dollars on more than hundred million covid-19 rapid tests. The bulk of them were given to provinces and territories to distribute in free screening programs. But in in places, that will soon be coming to an end. As heidi petracek explains, rapid testing may soon be based on your ability to pay. >> I can only give you one per person. >> Reporter: there used to be lineups for free covid-19 rapid tests. Today, it's no waiting for bill vangorder, who picked one up at his local library in halifax. >> If we have been somewhere where we then hear someone else has covid or if we've gotten -- you know, have the sniffles or something, we use the test. >> Reporter: but the days of ottawa sending millions of tests to the provinces are numbered. Health canada saying in a statement "given the current covid-19 outlook, inventory levels and indicated testing demands, the federal government does not anticipate the need for additional federal procurements at this time." new brunswick took them as its cue to stop giving them out when supplies will run out. Likely next month. Saskatchewan did the same in february. >> People who are wealthy can continue to buy them. >> Reporter: that bothers one infection control epidemiologist, who says testing should still be part of the plan. >> If we say we're not going to have it anymore, then we're really taking the word "public" out of public health. >> Reporter: other provinces aren't saying much right now about what the plan is. Ontario, for example, would only say through a spokesperson that the province has tens of millions of rapid antigen tests available to the public and wouldn't say when they expire. But lab-based testing by medical referral remains available, and for one expert, is the better tool, because rapid tests perform differently for different people. >> The interpretation capacity has to improve, and that means that the sensitivity of these tests needs to improve. >> Reporter: the experts agree tests need to improve and detect other respiratory viruses like rsv and influenza. That innovation is in the works. Likely rendering these obsolete. Heidi petracek, global news, halifax. >> Antony: the calgary humane society has found a home for one special surrendered pet. This is slippery the turtle. Now, he arrived at the human society last september. Turns out, he's a map turtle, which is a controlled species in alberta and can't be kept as a pet. So, after reaching out to numerous organizations, the humane society finally found a home for slippery at the victoria butterfly gardens. And after arranging a flight for him to b.c., where map turtles are not a controlled species, he's now settling in at his new home.

>>> Attention fans of "the witcher." a new gerald of rivia has arrived. Unveiling liam hemsworth as the new main character. Henry cavell previously played the role during the first three seasons, and fans were shocked in october of 2022 when netflix announced cavill would be departing the slow. "the witcher" is slated to get two more seasons before ending the series with a fifth installment you're beautiful, you're beautiful, you're beautiful it's true >> Ross: british singer james blunt has announced an anniversary tour of his best-selling album back to bedlam 20 years aft its release. In 2004, songs like high and you're beautiful were everywhere, earning him a spot as a household name. Blunt, now 50 years old, is set to remaster the album and go on tour in celebration of its 20th anniversary. And that's a look at your top entertainment stories. >> Ross: all right, well, candace... Are you a fan of lists? I know that's something many people try to do these days. Try to compartmentalize things. What's your take? >> Candace: yeah, you've kind of got to take lists or best of lists with a grain of salt, because especially wherality is concerned, it's so subjective, and you need to know the credit for which these bests are compiled. >> Ross: it can be tough. One that a lot of people have been talking about recently, apple music has released their rankings of the top 100 albums of all time. Recently, they released the top 10, and coming in at number 1 is the iconic miseducation of lauryn hill. The railways list has stirred up a lot of debate on social media. You can see the top 5 here. There's not many artists that have more than one album in the top 100, but some do, including the beatles and stevie wonder, but, you know, not surprised to see these -- these artists in the top five, but I know some people were mentioning that mariah carey wasn't even in the top 100. Whitney houston either. The type of music as well. Not a big representation of jazz, for instance. Reggae. Bob marley, he is number 1. Exodus number 46, so he made the top 100. I don't know. What's your take on it? >> Candace: again, I need to know what the criteria is. This is sales? Is this based on apple sales or downloads or streams? >> Ross: I don't think they were very specific. Just, you know, the -- the impact these albums have had. >> Candace: I see. >> Ross: on -- I don't think sales were a part of it necessarily u. >> Candace: gotcha. >> Ross: but just sort of where, you know, people sort of think music has gone or where it is right now in terms of its popularity over the years, reaching -- but it's hard to pick that hundred, but if you're going to do a list, you've got to do it as wellal some point, right? >> Candace: for sure. Stevie wonder is actually right behind there I think at number 6 on that list, and number, kendrick lamar, good kid mad city. Alanuis morissette was there, too. So there was a little something for somebody but it's maybe a starter pack, you can go through a hundred songs really quickly so if you just wanted something to put on for the dishes just to get a sense of where the culture is at, it looks like it would make a good listen, yeah. >> Ross: if we were going to do a top list of dogs and the dog walking forecast, I think sophie would be up pretty close to the top here. Sophie running through the dandelions. Heidi sending this picture in. Sophie's mom, I believe. >> Candace: what a great picture. >> Ross: great "p" pretty great weather, I'd say as well, pretty close to the top of might have list. Noted a humid. Southwesterly winds at times today. >> Candace: looks good, and sophie is looking good. Thanks so much for watching us, as always. "the morning show" is next with jeff ask carolyn. We'll see you tomorrow. >> Announcer: the dog walking forecast is brought to you by ren's pets. Food, toys, and treat for life.
