>>> At least 19 people have died as a result of severe weather in the southern U.S. powerful storms left a wide trail of destruction across texas, oklahoma, arkansas, and kentucky. The worst damage was seen in a region spanning from north of dallas to the northwest corner of arkansas. Kentucky's governor declared a state of emergency early monday morning, citing multiple reports of wind damage and tornadoes. Forecasters say the greatest risk for weather will shift to the east on monday, with severe storms expected anywhere from alabama to new york city. >>> The government of papua new guinea says friday's landslide buried more than 2,000 people alive, and it has formally asked for international help. The government figure is three times more than the united nations estimate of 670. The remains of only six people have been recovered so far from the buried village in anga province. Australia is sending aircraft and other equipment to help its south pacific neighbour. >>> Strong winds and heavy rain pounded the coastal regions of bangladesh and india, as a severe cyclone made landfall. Millions are without electricity after power poles fell and trees were uprooted by gusty winds. Dozens of bangladeshi villages were flooded after flood protection embankments either washed away or were damaged by the storm surge. Nearly 800,000 people had been evacuated from vulnerable areas in bangladesh on sunday. The india meteorological department says the storm is likely to weaken further throughout the day, but warns heavy showers will remain over the next two days. >>> Hostage and ceasefire negotiations continue in the middle east. This as israel attacked a camp in rafah, and hamas launched a rocket towards tel aviv over the weekend. Raf sanchez has the latest. [ Sirens ] >> Reporter: overnight, fire and horror in rafah, an israeli airstrike hit a camp for displaced civilians, setting tents and cars aflame. Fire crews in hamas-run gaza say at least 40 people were killed. Many of them women ask children. One of the deadliest bombings in rafah of the entire war. [ Shouting ] the red crescent says it happened in a designated safe zone, but israel says the strike killed two senior hamas commanders responsible for attacks in the occupied west bank, adding it is aware of reports indicating that as a result of the strike and fire that was ignited, several civilians in the area were harmed. The incident is under review. The u.n.'s highest court has ordered israel to halt the rafah offensive. But has no power to enforce the ruling. And israel giving no sign it will comply, saying hostages are being held in rafah. [ Gunfire ] >> We will not stop firing fighting for their freedom. >> Reporter: on hamas sunday, hamas fired rockets towards israel for the first time in month. Meanwhile, questions about U.S. personnel, after four boats broke their milos roanicings in heavy seas, working up in israel and gaza. The ships were delivering aid through an american-built temporary pier. U.S. central command saying no injuries have been reported. But three U.S. personnel did suffer common ho non-combaters injuries last week, the pentagon says, one ear seriously wounded. >> Miranda: at least three people are dead after a russian attack on the ukraine micallef region. Six additional people were reportedly injured as a result of the blast. Emergency services are now working to put out several fires and clear rubble.

>>> Meantime, spain has pledged to provide over 1 billion euros worth of military equipment to ukraine under a bilateral agreement signed monday. Ukrainian president vlodoymyr zelenskyy met with the spanish prime minister pedro sánchez in madrid to finalize the deal. The pact will provide ukraine with a supply of modern military equipment for ground, aerial, a and naval uses. Reports suggest that will include a dozen american-made patriot anti-aircraft rifles and 19 german-made leopard 2-a tanks. The support comes as zelenskyy has been pleading with westernal size for faster military aid to help in its country's defence against russia. >>> European union foreign ministers beating gathering for a meeting in brussels to discuss russia's invasion of ukraine and the security situation in the middle east. According to the bloc's foreign policy chief, the european union aims to agree in mission to express read with an eu border mission at rafah. Which has not been operational since 2007, had hamas seized full control of gaza. Well, a farmer in saskatchewan had quite the surprise last month when he found a piece of space junk in his field. And now he's waiting for it to be collected, but it has raised questions about who is responsible when that junk falls to earth. Sean previl reports. >> Reporter: space junk... When you call something space junk, everybody thinks you're a little nuts. >> Reporter: but space junk, or debris, is exactly what he found last month. >> A quarter mile away or something. We were driving up and it just looked like garbage, and then we get closer and closer, and what is it? It's not garbage. >> Reporter: photos of the debris led to an astronomy professor working with a colleague to determine the junk was likely linked to a SpaceX dragon spacecraft that returned to earth in february. >> This is not uncommon, and as we launch more and more stuff, these re-entries hitting stuff on the ground is going to become more and more common. >> Reporter: "global news" reached out to SpaceX about the debris, but did not hear back by deadline. However, sawchuk says the company has since been in touch. >> Said there's some compensation. We don't know. We haven't set a number yet or nothing like that, so...
