humidex. That's the case around southern ontario, even through southwestern quebec. A humid feel to the atmosphere. Unsettled at times, increasing cloud covers, highs around the mid teens for the hrm, heading towards moncton and fredericton. Mostly cloudy conditions, and into rain tomorrow. >> Candace: okay. So, you know, a bit of up and down before things settle into the swing of, I guess, late spring, summer things. -- how is the forecast -- it's early to ask, but how is the forecast looking for weekend. >> Ross: unsettled weather midweek, and then warming up for the weekend and dry is how it looks. There is a reason behind that. >> Candace: I was going to flag, for the toronto viewers, apparently all 10 of the city's beaches open next weekend, with life guards on site. So that is good news. And another, you know, unofficial sign that summer is here. >> Ross: yes, yes, take it in while you can. It's just zips by. Other outdoor activities this weekend, this is pretty cool. Thousands lucky picnickers enjoyed free meals prepared by chefs in paris while dining. Roughly 3,000 people sat along the avenue, using a table cloth more than 197 metres long. How do you clean that up? The lucky diners were chosen for the draw, for an event that comes exactly two months before the summer olympics opening ceremony in paris. Wow. That -- that looks like a lot of fun. >> Candace: for sure. >> Ross: great place to be in the first place, but having that extra picnic atmosphere. >> Candace: absolutely. Something about breaking bred with the baskets. Getting that sense of community within the city before it is invaded by the world. Who knows, that invasion has probably started as well. There is a lot of symbolism there too. That's really nice, yeah. >> Ross: yeah. And I'm sure there is going to be many similar events leading up to the olympics and, of course, looks like devent weather there sunday. The weather forecast will be key ahead of the olympic games too. I think the opening ceremonies are going to go right along the sennes. Looking forward to seeing that. We talked about this once too. The sport is fun, but great seeing the other aspects of the games. >> Sure. It takes you to the city, which is great. >> Ross: we will take you to break now. Stay with us. >> Candace: good morning, everyone, students, faculty, and community members at the university of toronto's pro palestinian encampment have until 8 this morning to clear out or they will be in violation of the trespass notice. Jaden lee-lincoln has been covering the story since the start. She's will the this morning. And has the latest from kings college circle. Good morning, jaden. >> Reporter: good morning, candace. Well, I can tell you despite the deadline at 8 a.m., students, staff, everyone else will not be going anywhere. I'll give you a look this morning at what we're looking at. It's quiet. But things are really about to ramp up here. We know that at 8 a.m., there is actually going to be a rally that's been held. The ontario federation of labour will be joining students and staff involved in this protest here this morning. Protesting students' right to protest. Now, the next steps for the university will be pursuing urgent legal action with the ontario courts. They said in a statement, if the encampment remains noncompliant with the trespass notice, we will proceed to court to seek injufshthive relief through an urgent hearing. That could possibly mean a fine for those involved. We also know through friday's notice, that students and staff involved could also face disciplinary actions through the school, including a suspension for students and for those librarians, any other stuff here. It could mean termination of employment. Now, I'm in touch with the u of t early this morning. We're not at that point yet. It doesn't sound, at this time, that u of t has proceeded with any legal action just yet. But, again, we know that's coming up at 8 a.m., if we don't see them clearing. Now, again, we know that students here and protesters want the university to cut ties, to divest with israeli companies, but the university has remained firm in what they have offered. That's not changing. So, again, things really could ramp up here again. 8 a.m., despite the deadline to leave, we know there is going to be a rally here. We'll cover that for you this morning. Back to you, candace. >> Candace: thanks, jaden. An investigation is underway, after shots were fired outside of a jewish elementary school in north york this weekend. Officers responded to the elementary school near dufferin and finch just before 5 saturday morning. They found a bullet hole in the building, but no injuries have been reported. Police are investigating the incident at potentially hate-motivated. Political leaders weighed in on the shooting. With premier doug ford calling it a gross display of anti-semitism, adding it's beyond belief anyone could be this hateful. And prime minister justin trudeau also took to x, saying it's a brazen act of anti-semitism and the perpetrators need to be brought to justice. Toronto police have set up a command post near bathurst and glencairn, and york regional police are also pledging to step up their presence at jewish schools and places of worship. Toronto police have confirmed a body was recovered from lake ontario sunday afternoon near the ferry at billy bishop airport. The investigation is on going. Anyone with information is asked to contact police. Halton police are issuing an urgent public safety warning, after three opioid-related deaths. Police are urging drug users not to use alone and to keep naloxone on hand. A woman is in hospital with serious injuries, after being stabbed by a man at fairview mall. Paramedics rushed to the scene after sheppard and don mills, just before 12:30 sunday afternoon, after reports of a woman being stabbed. The suspect was taken into custody by mall security before police arrived. Police say the victim and the suspect were known to each other. An investigation is on going. Peel regional police will announce the results of a major auto theft investigation dubbed project odyssey. The force will hold a media availability at 9 this morning. [ ] >> Ross: well, ross, what a difference a week makes. Noticeably different over the weekend from those, you know, 30° highs with the humidex and all that. For me, I didn't mind it. >> Ross: I didn't mind it too. It was a nice weekend. We had the wet weather saturday, it cleared out, and yesterday was pleasant. We have higher humidity values today. You'll feel that and also, yes, some wet weather at times. Let's take a look at a wider perspective. The same disturbance that brought the severe weather to the U.S. not severe weather. We're not expecting severe weather around southern ontario. And the gta. Although there will be heavier down pours likely as this system moves in. It will come in some waves. We did experience some through the overnight. A bit of a lull this morning. And the next wave is traveling through southwestern ontario. That will make its way towards the gta later this morning. In towards the afternoon. It is relatively mild, these temperatures are above average for where we should be as an overnight low. And the cloud cover, the showers, will suppress tchs a little bit. 22, 23°. But the humidex will make it feel closer to 30 out there. So as I mentioned, a humid feel. There is the heavier down pours possible through the later morning, into the afternoon, a bit of a break, I think, later this afternoon, through this evening, and another wave of showers will push through, as we head into tomorrow afternoon. And by midweek, we should start to see drier weather. This looks to be 15 to 25 millimetres of rain for most spots, could be a little bit more, areas that do experience some of the heavier down pours. Here is a look at the forecast now. 20° tomorrow. Potential for showers, cloud cover, looks like we'll see a sun/cloud mix on wednesday. We're only up to the high teens, wednesday, cooler. Temperatures recover in time for the weekend. Looks like we're back towards the mid 20s. And that's a look at your ok tire weather. Candace. Sglas thanks, ross.
