Court documents reveal alleged anticompetitive conduct by loblaw's and empire taxing the grocery giants use property controls to limit competition in the grocery sector. Those property controls give the companies the ability to exclude potential competitors from selling food in certain regions, or dictate the terms that allow them to do business. Sobeys owner, empire, has pushed back on the investigation, calling it unlawful, while loblaw's says they are cooperating with the review and they encourage the opening of stores. The news comes as canada's grocery owners have come under increased scrutiny -- increased scrutiny over inflated bills and alleged price-fixing. In to pick up the 2024 festival -- festival season, the canadian debut of something rotten. It follows two struggling playwrights during the height of the english renaissance. As they try to outshine their competition. You might have heard of him, a playwright named william shakespeare. Without further ado, let us welcome dan, from the musical “ something walk -- something

rotten, and also what we can expect this year from stratford. Welcome, dan, thank you for taking the time to make it in. We appreciate you being here. Your career has taken you all over many a storied stage, and even some voice acting work behind the scenes. What is it like to be back at stratford this year, and take on this role of thomas nostradamus. >> I have been fortunate that I have been in stratford for many years now, on and off. I started a 97. Now I am 22, obviously. But over the years I have had the privilege of appearing and musicals, shakespeare, contemporary plays, new plays, which is what stratford offers or audiences. I've had a lot of experiences want -- wonderful experiences to work there and stretch my acting muscle. And now I am in something rotten. Which is opening on tuesday next week. And I play thomas nostradamus. Who is obviously nostradamus' nephew. And he sort of foresees the future. But it is slightly skewed and a little off. Which is fine. Which makes a bit of the mayhem happened in something rotten. It is a comedy and a musical. And it is a lot of fun. >> We have nick and nigel bottom. The bottom brothers. Trying to get an edge in the scene that was burgeoning at this time. >> Nick is desperate to outwit, outsmart, outplay, out right shakespeare. Is survivor in the 15 hundreds. So he is doing everything he can to resort of win and audience. And by doing so he is desperate, so he goes to eighths -- a soothsayer typed and they give my visions of the future, and hoping that my thoughts attack my ideas, my view of what the future will be can give them a heads up and come up with something clever. >> What goes into that? There is the musical elements, you are singing, you have to have that comedic timing as well , and everything that goes along with the stage and the audience interaction, how do you prepare for a role like that? >> You have to be fit mentally and physically just to -- for the demands. The evening -- physical demands of that. So you go to the gym. You take singing lessons. Prep yourself that way. You are disciplined. And then you go through the process of rehearsing. And it sort of more says it proceeds. I've had the pleasure of working with this same director on a number of shows. She has a process and she's very collaborative. And the tricky thing about this show, in the show the audience -- there is not a wave of laughter. People are kind of laughing throughout the entire thing. So the rhythm of the piece is affected by the audience. It has been an interesting process having the audience in to the show and laughing and knowing when to actually deliver the line, when to continue. It is an interesting process that we have had to adopt. And it is thrilling to do it. >> It sounds thrilling, and I'm sure it has been a thrill for the audience to take in, and all the exceptional work that something rotten has to offer. Before I let you go, can you act as a bit of an ambassador for stratford? What else is going on there that folks can expect? >> There are 12 productions happening there. And they run to october 27th of this year. Opening week starts next week. You can buy your tickets online, or call the phone number. I know the number, I've worked there for a wild. But there are a lot of options. There's musicals, two musicals, shakespeare plays, contemporary plays, classics, new pieces, and a lot of options to break away and go to stratford. And go for a day, five days. There is a lot to see. I think that rivals anything you might see on broadway and it's right in our province on country and it's a great thing to celebrate. Over 70 years the festival has been around. So I am really thrilled and delighted to be a part of it. >> We are so lucky to have it here in ontario and so lucky to get the chance to see you. Is it common practice to say break a leg? >> Yes, you can say that. I'll be sure not to slip when I get out of here. >> Well,, Ask Bathroom Renovation Centre how to maximize your medicine cabinet storage space... while giving you maximum flexibility for tasks. Bathroom Renovation Centre has multiple sizes and styles sizes suit your space and needs. Get ready for an evening out with everything you need at your fingertips, close up
