France transferred the remains to canada over the weekend during a repatriation ceremony at the beaumont hamel, newfoundland memorial. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the national war memorial in downtown saint john's. This is where the unknown soldier's remains will be placed in a black granite tomb on newfoundland's memorial day on july 1st. Oscar winning composer richard m sherman, who wrote songs for classic disney films such as mary poppins, is being remembered after passing away over the weekend that a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, the medicine go down medicine. In a statement released by disney, sherman passed away due to age related illness in los angeles saturday. Sherman and his brother robert won two oscars in 1965 for their work on mary poppins, the legendary musical force was behind more than 200 songs in 27 disney films, and has won countless awards for his work. Sherman has been called one of the most prolific lyricists in the history of family entertainment. A funeral will be held on may 31st in california. Sherman was 95 years old. Well, thousands of lucky picnickers enjoyed free delicacies prepared by some of the top chefs in paris sunday while dining al fresco on the champs elysees.
