Files stolen by cyber criminals last month have been leaked onto the dark web. Cyber criminals breached company computers in a ransomware attack. London drugs at one point closed all of its stores in western canada as a result. Now a group called lockbit claimed responsible and threatened to release stolen data unless london drugs paid $25 million. The company says it is unwilling and unable to pay customer and patient databases it says were not affected, but employee data may have been and they are getting free credit monitoring services and identity theft protection. Rescuers are combing through piles of debris and wreckage to search for bodies after an explosion and a fire at a chemical factory in western india killed at least nine people and injured dozens of others. The explosion in the factory's boiler led to a fire that affected other nearby factories and houses. The cause of the explosion is being investigated. A disaster response officials say the factory made food coloring and used highly reactive chemicals that can cause explosions. Police have filed culpable homicide charges against the factory owners. Former president donald trump held a rare republican campaign rally in the bronx, new york, in a state that hasn't gone red in a presidential election since the era of ronald reagan, trump is hoping the move will help peel away black and hispanic voters from president biden this november. At the same time, the biden-harris campaign is trying to gain support from a certain faction of gop voters. Esther martinez explains, together, we are going to make new york city great again. >> Former president donald trump took the campaign stage in the bronx, an area that voted overwhelmingly blue four years ago. >> The simple fact is, joe biden is not getting the job done for the bronx. He's not getting the job done for new york. >> The native new yorker is also trying to woo black and hispanic voters away from the democratic party. >> I think that we should listen to both sides of the argument and then make informed decisions in the best interests of black people. >> President biden spent yesterday hosting kenya's president, the first african leader to have a state visit in 16 years. In a new political ad, his campaign paints trump's past dealings with black americans as

adversarial. >> He was sued for refusing to rent his apartments to black families and called for the execution of five innocent black and brown teenagers. >> The trump campaign denounced the ad as a, quote, cheap attempt from the biden campaign to gaslight black voters. Meanwhile, the biden-harris campaign is trying to lure supporters of former un ambassador nikki haley after she announced this week that she will vote for trump. >> I'm happy that governor haley decided to come around and unite the party as trump's so-called hush money trial is set to come to a close next week, a new cbs news poll shows that more than half of americans believe trump is definitely or probably guilty. >> Trump denies all wrongdoing. Astrid martinez, cbs news, new york. >> Well, if you've ever bought a ticket to an event or a concert, you've most certainly used ticketmaster. Its parent company, live nation, dominates the market when it comes to concert promotion tickets and venues. And now the us justice department says live nation is too big. Eric sorensen has more on a legal battle that could reshape the multibillion dollar live entertainment industry. >> When millions of people could not buy taylor swift eras tour tickets two years ago, public anger coalesced around ticketmaster and its dominance in ticket sales. Ask swifties like halifax's elizabeth o'hanley, about the prices she ultimately faced there $3,600. >> So unless you're willing to pay that much, you're just not going to get a ticket. >> Now, the us justice department and most U.S. states are suing the parent company, live nation. >> Live nation relies on unlawful anti-competitive conduct to exercise its monopolistic control over the live events industry in the united states, washington says. >> Live nation ticketmaster controls 80% of primary ticketing at major us concert venues, manages more than 400 artists, and controls the majority of large concert venues and promotions in the us. And then there is ticketmaster, additional fees, ticketing fees, service fees, convenience fees and the list. Just went on and on per order fees, handling fees. It is a climb down for the us government, which allowed live nation to merge with ticketmaster in 2010. Critics say the government has no choice but to bring more competition into the live concert industry. The engine of lower prices is competition. >> Competition is something that's been absent in this area for decades now. Really, the only way to resolve it is to break up the company. >> Ticketmaster learn valuable lessons from this on sale. >> Live nation's president told a congressional hearing last year that bots and scalpers were responsible for high ticket prices. In a statement, live nation says this lawsuit won't reduce ticket prices or service fees and distracts from real solutions that would decrease prices and protect fans. What could it mean? In canada? >> We always say more competition is more choices for canadians. So obviously we're going to be looking at what has been announced in the united states. >> Any investigation in this country would come from the competition bureau, which reached a settlement with live nation over extra fees in 2018. They are most likely watching very carefully what the americans are doing, and then they would have to decide whether they think that they would like to investigate it. The case follows years of backlash from concert goers. It could be many more years before it's settled. Eric sorensen, "global news" toronto. >> Now to some stunning new images to show you that are literally out of this world. The european space agency released this five images from the euclid telescope. They feature unprecedented views of a star forming region in the milky way, and clusters of hundreds of galaxies. Now, the telescope will spend the next few years gathering images to help scientists understand two of the universe's greatest mysteries dark matter and dark energy. And that is what's making national and international news. For this friday, may 24th, you are watching "global news" morning. We'll be right back. The other side of mounting tension here came today in baghdad, touching off the most fierce fighting here in months. But right now many westerners just think it's far too risky to come here. Dawna-friesen in iraq. Moscow, pakistan. I'm dawna-friesen ahead tonight on "global" national. >> Good morning. Meteorologist ross-hull here with you on this friday helping you get set up for the weekend. We'll focus on, well, which areas have the potential for some wet weather. Speaking of wet weather, unsettled conditions will certainly the west under a trough. This is the upper level pattern and when you see the jet stream drop to the south. Yeah it supports unsettled weather, cool air aloft and still the potential for some showers. South coast, lower mainland of bc. Heavier rain with a disturbance over southern manitoba where totals could reach 60 or so millimeters heading into saturday. Even more than that locally, and we've gotten into some cooler conditions across the east after a really humid week, a couple of cold fronts have pushed through. There were some thunderstorms overnight around halifax, but the should stay dry today. Some scattered showers with thunderstorms around new brunswick. Montreal southern ontario should stay dry today. Keeping an eye on this disturbance, though it will slide through. And it's saturday when we do have the chance of some wet weather. And you can see that pushing in a shower thunderstorm late morning into the afternoon for places like toronto. Montreal could see an evening shower around much of the maritimes. It's going to stay dry this weekend. There will be some cloud cover at times too. Scattered showers. It will be a cooler day on sunday, but overall pretty quiet and then heading into early next week we start to see a bit of a pattern change. There will be more unsettled weather on the way. We do need it though. That wet weather for much of the east we've seen below average rainfall amounts so far this month. Okay, so above average rainfall amounts. Certainly with this system pushing into southern manitoba, you can see some lightning associated with that in the us. But yeah, heavy rain and then some showers still visible here on our satellite radar, at least on the radar across saskatchewan into alberta and portions of the south coast and vancouver island. So rainfall warning in place for southern manitoba that rainfall will likely continue into saturday. Even some snow on the western flank of that higher terrain over west central portions of manitoba. Yeah, it is cool and unsettled at times, not going to be raining every minute of every hour around calgary and vancouver, but we are looking at the potential for some wet weather and cooler than average temperatures for the most part. So around 13 to 15 degrees in vancouver today, depending on where you are across the greater vancouver area. 14 in calgary, 15 in regina. Still cool in winnipeg with the rain mid 20s. Just a beautiful day around southern ontario and not quite as humid.
