Chelsea and West Ham submit bids for OGC Nice target Wesley

Foot Mercato understands that Brazilian winger Wesley Gassova (19) is looking to leave Corinthians this summer, and whilst Chelsea and West Ham United have both submitted offers, he is tempted by a move to Ligue 1.

The €20m-rated, technically-gifted and versatile winger is attracting interest from across Europe this summer. A successful season at club level has put him on the brink of a call-up to the Brazil national team. He figured in the Seleçao’s expanded list for Copa América and whilst he ultimately missed out, he is expected to be integrated into the international set-up soon.

A move to Europe now beckons. According to Foot Mercato, Wesley favours a move to Ligue 1, before eventually making the step to the Premier League, despite possessing offers from Chelsea and West Ham. OGC Nice have been tracking the winger for several weeks and he was particularly admired by sporting director Florent Ghisolfi, who has now left to join AS Roma.

Despite his departure, Nice remain in contact with the player, whilst other French clubs are alerted to his availability. Ghisolfi, now at AS Roma, retains his interest, as do FC Porto. It is now up to Nice, or another French side to show concrete interest, as Chelsea and West Ham have already done.
