“Chelsea want around” – Romano reveals asking price as Chelsea star pushes for exit in surprise transfer
Chelsea want around €30m for Renato Veiga as the Portugal international pushes for a surprise January exit according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Blues weren’t expected to be busy this month, but injuries to Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile mean they might be forced to bring in a new centre back.
Outgoings are still the main priority with Chelsea looking to move on a number of players to raise funds and free up space in the squad for any potential arrivals.
Chelsea want €30m for Veiga
Ben Chilwell and Carney Chukwuemeka have both been told they can leave the club, whilst Cesare Casadei and Axel Disasi are both attracting interest from Italy.
Christopher Nkunku is another player who could leave, but one player who wasn’t expected to leave was Veiga.
The 21-year-old joined Chelsea in the summer for £12m from Swiss side FC Basel, mainly as back-up to Marc Cucurella, but the Blues liked his versatility given he can also play at centre back and in midfield.
Veiga has made seven Premier League appearance starting just once, although he’s started all six Conference League games, scoring twice.
He has also become a full Portugal international since joining the club and it may come as a surprise that he’s already pushing for an exit and has agreed to join Borussia Dortmund.
Veiga wants to join Dortmund as it’s believed he wants to play regular minutes in his preferred centre back position, and Romano has now shared what Chelsea’s asking price for the Portuguese is.
He took to X.com and said:
“Renato Veiga, expected to leave Chelsea as club opened the doors to permanent exit, not loan.

“Chelsea want around €30m for Veiga to leave accommodating his request to go and play as CB, not as LB. Full agreement Borussia Dortmund-Veiga on contract/project, in place.”
If Chelsea do let Veiga leave they will make a profit on the player, but they will then almost certainly have to go into the market for another left back, given the lack of back-up to Cucurella, and creating more work for themselves in a difficult January market.
