Chelsea fielded a strong side in their 4-1 defeat to Celtic and that made the result even more disappointing.

Mykhailo Mudryk, Benoit Badiashile, Reece James, Noni Madueke and Christopher Nkunku all started the defeat to the Hoops, but their places may come under threat in Atlanta.

Ben Chilwell, Malo Gusto and Raheem Sterling will all be pushing to make the first 11 against Club America.

The Eagles beat Juarez 2-1 in their latest domestic outing and forward Henry Martin, who notched in that contest, is in line to start against Chelsea.

Javairo Dilrosun and Erick Sanchez could form the Eagles front three and Alvaro Fidalso is another to watch.

How to watch Chelsea vs Club America live

Chelsea’s pre-season friendly against Club America kicks off at 12:30am on Thursday 1st August and will be broadcast live on Chelsea’s official website.

Blues hoping for an Atlanta cruise

Chelsea will be hoping to start a new era under boss Enzo Maresca with a pre-season victory over Club America.

Maresca takes over at the Bridge having led Leicester to promotion in the Championship last term. Nut the 44-year-old has to prove he can mould Chelsea into Premier League title challengers.

The west Londoners finished last season strongly, but any feeling of consistency and continuity was removed by Mauricio Pochettino’s departure.

Chelsea drew with Wrexham and were then crushed 4-1 by Celtic in Notre Dame on Saturday and Maresca will be hoping for far better against Club America.

The Eagles have already played four Liga MX games this season and Andre Jardine’s men have won two of their opening quartet of fixtures.

Jardine has domestic commitments to consider, as well as a contest against Aston Villa in three days’ time, but Club America should have the edge in terms of sharpness, regardless of Jardine’s selection.
