Chelsea have set their asking price at £20m for Cesare Casadei who is subject to interest from Italian side Torino according to reports.

The Blues aren’t expected to be busy in January, but given injuries to Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile their plans might be forced to change, with a new centre back now a possibility.

The main priority will likely be outgoings with the club keen to find solutions for Ben Chilwell and Carney Chukwuemeka who have both been told they can leave the club.

Casadei is another player who looks like he could leave having been signed from Inter Milan in the summer of 2022, and had revealed it was his decision to remain at Chelsea in the summer.

The Blues paid an initial £12.6m for the now 21-year-old with a further £4.2m in add ons, but Casadei has struggled to break into the first team.

The Italy under-21 international has had spells on loan at both Reading and Leicester during his time at Stamford Bridge and was recalled last January from his spell with the Foxes to give Mauricio Pochettino extra midfield options.

Casadei featured 11 times in the league last season all from the bench, but has failed to start a single league game since joining the club.

Things haven’t been much better for the Italian under Enzo Maresca and he’s made six appearances in all competitions, but has yet to feature in the league.

Casadei is attracting interest from Serie A side Torino who are keen to sign him and they are believed to have offered £9.6m, but the Blues want more.

Football Insider have now reported the Blues have set their asking price for Casadei at £20m, but Torino can’t afford to pay that in January.

The report adds negotiations are ongoing between the two clubs, with the Blues keen to include a buy back clause, whilst it’s believed they won’t let Casadei leave for a knockdown price.

The most likely scenario would be the two clubs meeting somewhere in the middle, but it seems Casadei is heading for the exit door this month.
