Maurizio Sarri said in May that he regretted leaving Chelsea after just one season, and now, thanks to Roma owner Dan Friedkin, Everton may offer him a chance to return to the Premier League.

Corriere dello Sport reported on Tuesday that new Everton owner and Roma president Dan Friedkin is considering hiring Italian tactician Sarri as the Toffees’ new head coach.

Sarri has been without a club since March when he resigned as Lazio coach, but he recently said that he’s open to returning to the dugout as long as he receives an offer that gives him “adrenaline.”

Sarri, a 2020 Juventus Scudetto winner, may sound like an ambitious candidate for Everton as the club is at rock bottom of the Premier League table, level on points with Wolves and Southampton.

However, Sarri recently revealed his regret for leaving Chelsea and England after just one season, so Friedkin may persuade the Italian if he offers him an ambitious project.

Sarri won the Europa League with Chelsea in his only season at Stamford Bridge in 2018-19 before returning to Serie A to coach Juventus.

The Tuscan won the Serie A title in 2019-20 but was sacked in the summer after a Champions League exit due to a poor relationship with some players and club members.
