Chelsea are ready to trigger Dani Olmo’s £51million release clause at RB Leipzig before it expires next Monday.

Olmo has been one of the players of the tournament at this summer’s European Championship and leads the standings for the Euro 2024 Golden Boot.

The 26-year-old has scored three goals and provided two assists for Spain, including the semi-final winner against France on Tuesday evening.

Olmo’s performances have increased interest in a player who is available for a fee of €60m (£51m) this summer due to a release clause in his Leipzig contract. Spain’s progress to the final of the tournament has seen the date to activate that clause extended and The Mirror are claiming Chelsea are ready to do so.

The West Londoners have been active in the summer transfer window to date with multiple signings, including the arrivals of Tosin Adarabioyo and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and are preparing an offer for Olmo as a marquee recruit. Chelsea signed Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig last summer after activating a £52m release clause in the Frenchman’s deal.

Barcelona and Manchester City have also been linked with Olmo, though Liverpool have reportedly opted against activating his release clause.
