Chelsea are prepared to include Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah as part of a package to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle.

Chelsea have approached Newcastle to discuss a potential deal to sign Isak, though the Magpies’ valuation of the Swedish striker in excess of £110m is out of financial reach for the West Londoners.

Enzo Maresca’s side remain interested in signing Isak, who scored 21 goals in the Premier League in 2023-24, and are prepared to offer a players-plus-cash proposal in a bid to bring down Newcastle’s valuation.

The Football Faithful have been informed that Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah are both potential makeweights on offer in a deal. Gallagher has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Stamford Bridge and has admirers at Newcastle, while Tottenham and Aston Villa are also pursuing a deal for the England midfielder. His future is expected to be cleared up following the conclusion of Euro 2024.

Chalobah has also deemed surplus to requirements after the arrival of Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham on a free transfer.

Chalobah has attracted interest from Crystal Palace, Fulham and Nottingham Forest, though is believed to want to join a club of similar stature if he leaves Chelsea this summer. Newcastle, meanwhile, want to sign a centre-back after being beaten to the signing of Adarabioyo by the Blues.

The Magpies have brought in Lloyd Kelly from Bournemouth on a free transfer, though remain interested in further defensive additions with Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles sidelined with ACL issues.

Chelsea had hoped to capitalise on Newcastle’s need to raise funds to remain compliant with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules (PSR).

However, Eddie Howe’s side are closing in on the sales of Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh to Nottingham Forest and Brighton respectively. Those deals will recoup around £68m and ease concerns at St James’ Park, strengthening their negotiating stance in discussions for Isak.
