Chelsea plot player-plus-cash bid for midfielder as Brighton move collapses

Chelsea are plotting a player-plus-cash bid for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as the Blues attempt to hijack the Leicester midfielder’s move to Brighton.

Brighton had agreed a deal with Leicester that would see the Seagulls part with £25m plus Jakub Moder for Dewsbury-Hall, who scored 12 goals and provided 14 assists in Leicester’s Championship-winning campaign in 2023-24.

A medical had been booked for Dewsbury-Hall at the Amex Stadium, though Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the interest from Chelsea is set to lead to the deal to collapse.

Dewsbury-Hall is waiting on Chelsea with his preference a move to Stamford Bridge and the West Londoners will now look to reach an agreement with Leicester.

Leicester have reluctantly accepted the sale of Dewsbury-Hall due to the club’s Premier League Profit and Sustainability (PSR) concerns, though Chelsea’s own need to remain compliant with the regulations means the Blues will look to be creative in a deal.

Chelsea are prepared to offer Leicester players in part-exchange for Dewsbury-Hall. It remains unclear who could be made available to the Foxes, though Armando Broja and Trevoh Chalobah are among the players who are free to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
