Chelsea are reportedly set to commence talks with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain over a deal for Randal Kolo Muani in the upcoming January transfer window, according to Foot Mercato.

Muani has been a peripheral figure at PSG since his €95 million move from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023 off the back of a splendid campaign with the Bundesliga outfit.

Since then, Muani has started just 15 league games for his current employers, with only two of them coming this term under Luis Enrique, who dropped the 26-year-old from Les Parisiens’ three final matchday squads of 2024.

Consequently, a move away from the French capital is a serious possibility for the striker next month, with a host of clubs around Europe circling for his signature.

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move, while AC Milan are also reportedly weighing up a deal for the French international.

Premier League giants Chelsea are the latest team to be credited with an interest in Muani as the Blues remain keen to bring in a new striker after their failed pursuit of Victor Osimhen last summer.

While he operates primarily as a centre-forward, Muani is also capable of playing a variety of positions up front, which could come in handy for Chelsea.

Despite scoring the third-most goals in the league so far, only behind Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, Enzo Maresca’s side could do with added firepower as they continue their push to return to the Champions League for the first time in three years.

Chelsea have surprised a few courtesy of their bright start to the season, although recent setbacks against Everton and, most recently, Fulham have dampened the mood a bit at Stamford Bridge.

The West Londoners currently sit fourth in the Premier League table ahead of their final clash of 2024 on Monday away at Portman Road, where the challenge of Ipswich Town awaits.
