Chelsea once again looking at unpopular striker choice who’s now got 18 goals in 25 apps
Chelsea’s scouts will probably be feeling quote smug about this one, because one of their finds was very unpopular at the time amongst the fans.
I remember seeing the news come out at the time and myself included were a bit annoyed to see Chelsea once again linked with a very young and unproven striker to come in and lead the line at the club. We have been calling out for an established striker option, and still very much are.
EXCLUSIVE! Enzo Maresca had meeting with Chelsea SDs after Manchester City defeat and asked for TWO signings this window!! – Plus latest on Jhon Duran to Chelsea!!
But then Samu Omorodion went on to join Porto instead of Chelsea, and in terms of goal stats at least, he’s having an excellent season, bagging 18 in 25 appearances so far.
I am sure that as a result of this, that Chelsea’s talent spotters are feeling very pleased with themselves.
There is no guarantee that Samu would have settled in the same way in the Premier League as he did in the weak league of Portugal, and it’s a fact that he was and still is very raw. But he also does look like he has the potential to one day become a top striker.
Samu being looked at again soon
TBR Football reports that Chelsea are keeping a close eye on Samu once again in this window.
Chelsea scouts were apparently very excited about Samu’s potential last summer, and remain captivated by what the Spanish international is doing at Porto.
Their sources add that agreeing a deal with Porto before the February 3rd transfer deadline will be difficult, although they are reportedly not in the best financial position right now.
Therefore, it is understood Porto could be tempted into selling Samu for a lot less than his £84m release clause – either now or in the summer transfer window too.
