A head-turning update on the future of former Barcelona starlet Marc Guiu has on Thursday been forthcoming online.

The info comes courtesy of Esport3, and points towards frontman Guiu as being in line for a swift return to his home country of Spain.

The 18-year-old, of course, sprung a major surprise last month, in coming to the decision to leave Barcelona behind, in favour of a move to the Premier League, with Chelsea.

Guiu’s initial stint on the books of the Blues, however, does not look set to last at all long.

As per the aforementioned Esport3, Enzo Maresca, the new man in charge on the touchline at Stamford Bridge, has recommended that his young goalscorer be farmed out on loan for a year.

Sevilla, initially, were considered the favourites for a deal, but a new suitor, it is claimed, have now positioned themselves towards the front of the queue.

Amid their ongoing search for a replacement for Martin Braithwaite, Espanyol have earmarked Guiu as the ideal profile.

It is therefore concluded that the Periquitos ‘could end up getting his services’ for the 2024/25 campaign.

Any such move would of course mark a head-turning one on Guiu’s part, with Espanyol boasting city rival status with none other than Barcelona, and fresh off securing a return to the top-flight of Spanish football.
