Chelsea have joined Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Federico Chiesa from Juventus.

Chiesa has been informed that he can leave Juventus with the winger not part of new manager Thiago Motta’s plans for the upcoming campaign.

The 26-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his deal in Turin and could be available for a cut-price fee, as Juventus look to recoup funds for their summer rebuild.

Chiesa was a target for Premier League clubs after starring during Italy’s success at Euro 2020 but saw his progress halted after sustaining an ACL injury that limited his involvement over the following two campaigns.

The Italian returned to prominence last season with 10 goals in 37 appearances for Juventus, who finished third in Serie A and won the Coppa Italia.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Chelsea and Spurs are both open to a move for Chiesa, who is due to report back for pre-season training at Juventus on Tuesday.

Chelsea are in the market for another wide player after missing out on the signing of Michael Olise to Bayern Munich, while Spurs have had success with recent purchases from Juventus in Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.

The London duo are expected to face competition for Chiesa, however, with Serie A sides including Roma interested.
