Chelsea: Frank Lampard sends one-word message to Cole Palmer amid 'greatest ever' claim
Frank Lampard hailed Chelsea star Cole Palmer after his brilliant display during Sunday’s huge win over Tottenham.
The forward scored two penalties as the Blues reversed a two-goal deficit to claim an impressive 4-3 victory at the home of their big rivals.
Enzo Maresca’s side now sit second in the Premier League table and only four points behind leaders Liverpool, albeit the Reds boast a game in hand after Saturday’s Merseyside derby was postponed following Storm Darragh hitting the UK.
Palmer, who also helped tee up Enzo Fernandez’s goal for the Blues to move them ahead in the game for the first time, took his tally for the season up to 11 goals and six assists in 15 League appearances.
The England international has scored all 12 of his penalties since joining Chelsea in the summer of 2024, setting a new Premier League record. Manchester City legend Yaya Toure had previously held the record with 11 goals from as many attempts.
Palmer celebrated the dramatic victory with a post on social media platform Instagram. The 22-year-old captioned a collage of himself scoring and celebrating his second penalty, which was an audacious chip over Fraser Forster.
Blues legend Lampard replied: “Class.”
Jamie Carragher, meanwhile, suggested Palmer could go on to establish himself as the club’s “greatest ever” if he leads Chelsea to a Premier League title.
“When you think of Chelsea's flair players like Gianfranco Zola and Eden Hazard, I think Palmer has done more in 18 months than Zola did and Zola is one of Chelsea's greatest ever players,” he told Sky Sports.
"He's on the same level as Hazard and that came over four or five years.

"If he takes Chelsea to a title then he'd go down as one of their greatest ever players if he keeps doing what he's doing. He's a special player.
"This Chelsea team is no underdog story. This is a team that has spent £1.2bn but what they're doing this season is something totally unexpected. This club are right in the mix for a title challenge."
