Chelsea complete fourth summer signing as Leicester midfielder arrives in £30m deal

Chelsea have announced the signing of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City.

The 25-year-old has joined the Blues in a deal worth £30 million, penning a five-year contract.

The English footballer expressed his delight to join the West London side, saying ‘it is a privilege’ to be at the club.

He said: “It is amazing to be sitting here as a Chelsea player.

“This is a club people grow up watching and hoping to one day play for, so it is a privilege to be here.

“I’m really excited to get going and can’t wait to show everybody what I can do.”

Dewberry-Hall was a key member of Leicester’s first-team last season as they clinched the Championship title to make an immediate return to the Premier League.

The midfielder featured in 44 league games, scoring 12 goals and creating 14 assists in the process.

His future in the Midlands remained a source of speculation all summer long despite being contracted with the Foxes until 2027.

The English footballer appeared to be heading to Brighton & Hove Albion at one point after they agreed a swap deal involving Jakub Moder.

But the move ultimately fell through and that allowed Chelsea to swoop in for him.

The Blues have been very busy in the ongoing summer transfer window. They brought in centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer and also secured a £19m deal for Omari Kellyman.

Meanwhile, Marc Guiu also arrived in a £5m move from Barcelona on Monday.

Chelsea parted company with Mauricio Pochettino and installed Enzo Maresca as their manager.

Maresca is relatively inexperienced but he will be expected to secure Champions League football next season.
