Chelsea ‘close’ to contract agreement with Villarreal star
La Liga outfit Villarreal look set to bid farewell to a key member of the club’s first-choice XI this summer.
This comes amid widespread confirmation that Filip Jörgensen is closing on a move to the Premier League, with Chelsea.
The name of goalkeeper Jörgensen has found itself front and centre in the media headlines in Spain for some time now.
As much comes with the Danish youth international fresh off something of a breakout campaign in La Liga.
Jörgensen acted as a near ever-present between the posts for Villarreal in 2023/24, thoroughly impressing on his way to starts in all but two of the Yellow Submarine’s league outings.
And his exploits, it is understood, did not go at all unnoticed across the continent.
Still just 22, Jörgensen is considered a potential star in the making, giving rise to recent links with a number of leading European clubs.
And, as alluded to above, this week, one such suitor appear to have taken a step forward in their pursuit of the talented shot-stopper.
As per a report from The Athletic:
‘Chelsea are close to agreeing personal terms with Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jörgensen.’
Negotiations, as a result, are in full swing between Chelsea and Villarreal, over the terms of a transfer worth a sum of €20-25 million.
Chelsea are close to agreeing personal terms with Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, who prefers a move to #CFC over Marseille.
Both clubs are discussing a fee between €20m-€25m for the Denmark Under-21 international, who has a €45m release clause at Villarreal.
