Chelsea 'agree terms' to complete record-deal for Naomi Girma

Chelsea Women have reportedly 'agreed to terms' to sign USWNT defender Namoi Girma from San Diego Wave.

According to the Athletic, the London club will splash $1.1 million on the 24-year-old, making her the first player to ever be sold for $1 million or more in women's football.

Girma was reportedly garnering interest from clubs across Europe, including serial winners Lyon.

The California native was labeled as "the best defender I’ve ever seen" by USWNT boss Emma Hayes during the 2024 Olympics.

While the deal is not yet completed, reports suggest it will be finalized in the coming days pending the approval of the paperwork.
