Charlton Athletic defender Kiera Skeels has signed a new one-year contract with the club.

The Addicks announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

Skeels joined Charlton Athletic in summer 2021 after leaving former club Reading. The player has played an important role in the evolution of The Addicks as a full-time professional outfit in the Barclays Women’s Championship.

In her time in South East London, Skeels has made 62 Barclays Women’s Championship appearances in a Charlton Athletic shirt. The defender has scored four league goals for the club. Skeels was a member of a Charlton Athletic side that took their promotion challenge to the very last day of the season in 2023/2024.

Speaking after signing her new deal at The Valley, Skeels said “I’ve been here for three years now and I’ve loved every second of it. I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had and I’m hopeful to build on them next season.”

Skeels becomes the third player to sign new terms with Charlton Athletic during the close season. Midfielder Carla Humphrey and attacker Karin Muya have also agreed to remain at The Valley for 2024/2025. The club are expected to announce further contract renewals in the coming days.
