Champions League finalist leaves door open to possible Anfield switch

It's no secret that new Liverpool head coach Arne Slot is yet to welcome any new arrivals through the revolving door at Anfield this summer. But that could be about to change now that one of Europe’s most dynamic wingers has expressed his openness to a move.

The Reds' eagerness to bolster their attacking line in preparation for the new season is evident, as shown by their well-documented and, so far, unsuccessful pursuit of Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon.

Now, another reported candidate to bolster the squad has publicly opened up the possibility of a move away.

When asked about the prospect of playing for another side, Borussia Dortmund speedster Karim Adeyemi was clear when speaking to Ruhr Nachrichten.

Adeyemi attracting interest from England and Italy

“I’m wearing the Dortmund shirt and I’m very happy to be wearing the Dortmund shirt," said the talented 22-year-old.

However, the Germany international didn't rule out an exit this summer. "There are no guarantees in life,” he said.

Given his age and electric pace, alongside his Bundesliga and Champions League experience, it should come as no surprise that top clubs are looking at Adeyemi.

Teams from the Premier League, plus Italian giants Juventus and AC Milan, are interested in the winger, reports Sky Sport Germany.

His contract runs until 2027, meaning he won’t come at cheap, especially given Dortmund’s track record in making good money from their young stars.

That said, the same source understands that Adeyemi could leave for just over £33 million—the price they bought him for.

Is Adeyemi good enough for Liverpool?

While Adeyemi is an attractive proposition, he’s not been a prolific scorer since moving to Germany from Red Bull Salzburg. In fact, he has netted just nine goals in 45 league games.

At a side like Liverpool, he’d be expected to reach new heights in that regard, especially if he is to become the long-term successor to Mohamed Salah, or even Luis Diaz, who has been repeatedly linked with a move away this summer.

There's little doubt that Dortmund, also in transition under a new coach - former Liverpool midfielder Nuri Sahin - know what Adeyemi can bring.

But, for now, while his future is still somewhat up in the air, it seems unlikely that Liverpool will step up any interest, unless other top targets, including Gordon and possibly Mohammed Kudus, are ruled out.
