Making things kind of interesting on an otherwise ordinary day. Dust devils are small whirlwinds that pick up dust and debris as they roll over land. They can be mistaken for tornadoes, which form with a downward motion of wind rather than upward. >> Lindsey: I would be like, what is happening. >> Akshay: I always thought that they were mini tornadoes. >> Lindsey: for an untrained eye like us, I would say they are baby tornadoes. >> Kelsey: the biggest thing -- a dust devil or something similar happens under clear conditions. You look up and there is no cloud. That sun shining down on the ground creates different areas of temperature. If there is a hot area, that air begins to rise. If there is an area of colder air, there can be circulation that forms. That can spin up and if it catches itself to a cloud, it can increase in intensity and it could reach ef-0 strength. Good to give it lots of space. And run away. >> Lindsey: I would try to dance around it and see if you could outrun it. >> Kelsey: I am not going to advise that. >> Lindsey: I would like to play chicken with it. >> Akshay: a water funnel seems more scary than a dust devil. >> Kelsey: growing up in the prairies, dust devils could form. >> Lindsey: I just don't want one in the parking lot. >> Kelsey: speaking of severe weather this morning. We will go to québec city. The area seeing thunderstorms roll through. It is obviously very grey this morning. This line of storms moving through. This is what rolled through the rest of ontario and québec yesterday. There were times when we had both tornado watches and warnings in effect through communities east of georgian bay. Pretty much exactly where we were forecasting storms to become most severe yesterday. Now today, it is still warm, but a lot less humid across areas in ontario and québec. The cold front that moved through that is responsible for the storms in eastern québec this morning really slice that humidity in half. It is going to feel fresher outside, despite the fact that temperatures are pretty warm. 14° in the city of toronto. 21 in montréal. We are going to see a warm day ahead for the maritime provinces. There's going to be a cooler day overall for the avalon peninsula. 4 for thunder bay. 5 in winnipeg and regina. 7 in edmonton and 10 in vancouver this morning. Later on today, lots of sunshine on the west coast. Cooler conditions in alberta, saskatchewan and manitoba. Winnipeg, you are waking up to brand-new weather alerts this morning. 17 in thunder bay. 26 in montréal. All three centres a couple degrees cooler than yesterday. But significantly less humid. Ask that will be the biggest take away. It will not feel as sticky as it did for your wednesday. There's that line of storms moving through eastern ontario and southern québec. If you are waking up in southern manitoba. We have a weather system that will come up with the dakota. That has prompted a rainfall warning including all of southeastern manitoba. This area is said to see 50 to 60 millimeters of rain. It kicks off tonight and it lasts until saturday. Eps of that, the storms moving through the St. Lawrence region are non-severe. A lot of lightning and thunder. The back end of that low prompting up to 10 centimetres of snow as that snow continues to fall through the back end of this afternoon. The south today, lots of sun. It will be windy. Winds coming down from the northwest. That's going to cut that heat a little bit. Especially if you are in the

shade. We start to watch that rain moving up from north dakota. That will continue into saturday. Some areas of higher terrain will flip over to snow as well. Central and northern québec will be cloudier with showers mixed in. The lower great lakes, lots of sun for the next couple of days. You smell like a baby, but sand-free. >> Lindsey: I don't like the sand. I go to the beach and then I am like, why am I here? I like lakes and rocks.
