wants to be a prospective buyer. It's our "moment." >> You're used to seeing amazon delivery, not a moose. My wife, steph, was about to go get our daughter out of bed, and she said there's something on our ring doorbell. She said oh, my gosh, it's a moose. No rush, loped along, came up the lawn, and then headed up the street. We had an electric car plugged in outside. It could have been a little awkward to call our insurance company to say we have a claim because a moose plugulled out the plug in the wall. [ ] >> Adrienne: so you know, we have a little sign at "the national" that says "it's been blank days since there was a moose in the "moment"." and it's neveralways zero, but canadians keeping having these amazing encounters with these amazing animals. >>> That's it for us tonight. Three major cybersecurity incidents here in B.C. michelle ghossoub takes us through what we know and whether there are any links between them. >> Over recent weeks B.C. has been hit by a slough of cyberattacks. You may have heard of them. You may even have been affected. Let's go back to april 28. London drugs says it was hit by a major attack on its systems, nearly 80 locations across four provinces shut down, and not just the retail store, the post office and pharmacies were closed and pharmacists could only fill urgent prescriptions. >> Were you told to go somewhere else? >> To get a new prescription for my doctor to go to another pharmacy. >> London drugs locations reopened after about a week and will get back to them in a second. But there was another major attack just a few days later. This time on the B.C. government itself. On may 10, the province said there had been a sophisticated cyberattack on its systems, three separate attempts to breach security were detected. There is no evidence that the attack succeeded but the province said they believed a state or state sponsored actor was behind it.

>> The only kind of level of being able to do what they were seeing and covering their tracks is the hallmarks of a state ctor or state sponsored actor. >> Then on may 22, yet another attack. The first nations health authority said it had been hit and some personal employee information was likely impacted. And remember that london drugs attack? Well, we got an update on that too. The company confirmed it had been the victim of a ransomware attack. Cybercriminals were threatening to leak london drugs data online on the dark web if the company didn't pay the ransom and that could include employee data. Now, london drugs said it wouldn't pay and now some of their files have been released. >> So at this point we've talked about the dark web, ransoms being paid and international threat actorrings. So what is it, exactly, that we're looking at here? >> Unfortunately it's becoming very: and although I'm not pleased to have two particular cyberattacks emerge on my first couple of weeks on the job, it's not a real surprise. >> Reporter: governments and private companies around the world are being hit. Last year ransomware companies collected $1 billion in payments from people trying to keep their data safe. So what's being done? We asked the premier: >> Government processes for core government included upgrading our defences which neighbourhoods us to detech the attacks we faced at the provincial level. There will always be challenges as this but it prevents as many as possible because when we talk about the information these agencies have, health information or personal financial information, it's a big deal for british columbians. >> It's scary to think the data you share could be compromised and in some cases the motivations of these attackers aren't known. The attack on the province wasn't a ransomware attack. They didn't make any kind of demand. So what do they want with your personal data? Well, at this point we can't exactly say. But one expert says going forward it's criminal to minimize the amount of data that is shared. >> One of the things we can do to safeguard potential harms and breaches of these data sets is to make sure the data in those data sets is not so extensive. I think that's really one incentive that I'd like to hammer home. >> Now an update on the convicted serial killer projectton. He is in a medically induced coma and on life support. This is four days after he was attacked by another inmate in prison. The assaults happened on sunday, and it left pickton with life-threatening injuries. Quebec police say doctors may try to wake him from the coma in a few days and reevaluate his condition. Correctional services canada says the assailant has been identified and appropriate actions have been taken. Pickton was convicted of six counts of second-degree murder in 2007 and sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years.
