battle, back towards kane. Watched by ryan suter. And a centering pass blocked by heiskanen, around the boards past ceci. This is going to be an icing call against dallas. >> Craig: what a good start and a good pace as you know both these teams looking desperately for that first goal. How about dadonov, just seemed to get lost. I think cody ceci never even saw they had a man behind him and it bounces over the stick of kulak, and for stuart skinner, not just the first save but watch this second one, does a great job of standing his ground and then reacting to the rebound and getting a shoulder on that as well. And for skinner, an early test he passed and able to settle his team down on the road. >> Chris: another high flip out to centre by robertson. >> Craig: that's why you do it, too. Ekholm never saw it, it bounced to his right and keep an eye on that. It's a tough play for a ottawa defenceman to make. >> Chris: bouchard sends mcdavid down the flank, outlet to hyman, shooting, blocked and held by oettinger. >> Craig: well should we be surprised, chris, these two teams are here in the western conference final? Here's their body of work since january 1st. Two of the best, and really in every category. And you think of the edmonton oilers, they were in 31st place when they made the coaching change and that move and kris knoblauch has been able to get them back to this area. Just quite an accomplishment there, and the dallas stars hungry after losing the western conference final last year. >> Chris: that might become a new key barometer, top five from january 1st on. Carolina, and the four teams in the final four. Lundkvist who celebrates his 30th birthday today steers it down into edmonton ice. Jamie benn is after it there, tied up by ryan mcleod. Darnell nurse and mcleod digs it out for derek ryan, out comes desharnais to centre. He'll dump it down and head back on a change. On the forecheck was warren foegele. Up ahead it goes and flipped down into edmonton territory. Around for ceci. Rink wide, and that'll skip past janmark. Chopped at by sam steel from ardrossan, alberta. Loose for brown, he's hit along the boards. Carrick battling for it as well. Steel can't clear, ceci with a shot on goal. As paul coffee would say, he was telling cody ceci to shoot more, a big blast against vancouver and thinks he's got one of the heaviest shots on the oilers. Ryan suter sends it in from centre. Here's bouchard. Dashing out, trying to spring draisaitl, and that's an icing call against edmonton. >> Announcer: download the betting app and find out why it's never ordinary at bet365. >> Chris: for news you can trust delivered when you want, where you want, download the cbc news app for free now with cbc radio one, local and live. Here's a faceoff win by matt duchene who scored the series winner in double overtime against colorado. Thomas harley back in his own zone with duchene. Coming off a breakout year, harley back to heiskanen, and he'll send it in from the red line. Check change by dallas, and we've got a penalty coming up against the stars. >> Craig: it's going to be against evander kane actually as he took a roughing call going after heiskanen as he was dumping this puck in. The guys in studio talked about the impact, here's one, just got the elbow up and the call was made. [ ] (phone dings) ( ) Ever feel like no matter what you've got, someone's got more? Visit scotiabank.com/nevermisshockey >> Craig: killing the penalty, you would say this is a bad thing but in this playoffs they have been dynamite and part of it is the aggressiveness with all four. That's something kris knoblauch said they have been working in unison. When one's being aggressive, all four have been. They try to take away the dangerous passing lanes across, and you know, just there are times during a season when you get in sync and this has been an incredible run of playoffs. So much attach talk about the best power play in the league but it's the best penalty killing as well through the first two rounds. >> Chris: 3 for 3 in game seven, 16 of 16 in 2017. They are at 14 in a row now. So closing in on their best ever but they had trouble against dallas' power play in the regular season, 4 for 8. That hit derek ryan in the chest as he tried to knock it down and played back to centre. Here's jamie benn working it back in. Robertson following up but ekholm's going to turn the dallas stars power play back. >> Craig: and this has been the problem for power plays against this kill is the easy setup. They stand you up at the line and almost force you to dump it in and chase. >> Chris: pavelski drops it off, johnston to the right side, jason robertson in. He'll kick it back to heiskanen. Across for benn, shooting! And a glove stop by skinner looking around, wyatt johnston in front. >> Craig: look at benn there, it's almost the last second I better get it in and get a faceoff. He didn't have a lot on this shot and once the entry happened, the pressure conditions andcontinuesand as it goes across, johnston's in a pretty good position. But stuart skinner look over the shoulder and then make the save. >> Chris: cody ceci knocked marchment off stride. They continue to battle along the end boards. Nurse buffeting in against stankoven. Stankoven to the line, heiskanen, he'll take the shot, skinner the save, rebound! Just chipped wide. Close call there, and edmonton gets it to centre. Here's heiskanen winding up, bursting back in. Duchene with a drop for stankoven, and across for seguin. Watched there by janmark. Around to the near side, duchene into the slot. That's broken up and janmark working it out, may be a two-on-one with connor brown, and unable to corral the pass. Close call there at the end of the power play, one shot for the stars with the man advantage as kane stepped back on to the ice. Duchene turns back, mcdavid comes on, and so does draisaitl. Here's matt duchene checked along the boards by draisaitl. Esa lindell around, got by them out to centre. Ekholm and bouchard unable to work it out of the zone, stolen there. Here comes harley in, harley trying to centre. Skinner got a stick on that and now it's draisaitl. Ekholm ahead, that's too far for hyman, and it's an icing call against edmonton. >> Craig: the one thing that dallas does have, we talked about their depth and the second unit power play has darn good players on it with seguin, benn, and stankoven in front. A close call with that rebound as heiskanen made sure it got through, then a bouncing puck backs heiskanen off. This one, we've seen before. Brown over to janmark, he was able to score a shorthanded goal against vancouver. That one just bobbled at the last second as they get one fairly good chance on the penalty kill.
