If it's visiting team wins game one, and then they win game two, they have about 90% chance of winning the series. Now, the dallas stars proved that wrong versus vegas, but at the end of the day if the rangers, the home team, comes back and wins game two, they've got a 56% chance to win the series. So you go from having if you win at 90 and lose it, you're well below 50%. So certainly the visiting team coming in in game one gets the win and if they can get that second one, man, they put themselves in a good spot. Statistically anyway. We saw examples of that, especially from matthew tkachuk who isn't afraid to mix it up. In the third period, the panthers had the lead. He goes hard to the net in front of shesterkin. There's a few words, but he's quick to get out of there. Tonight early on it's a bit of a different story. The rangers score. Tkachuk mixing it up. Verhaeghe mixing it up. Every game has its own identity. This one seems to be a little more nasty early on, guys. >> Garry: it's amazing that the first hit of the series of any -- you know, of any stature was the hit that tkachuk put on trocheck, right? He hurt his shoulder a little bit. And every time you see a scuffle those two guys are together. Probably like that all the way through this series. You have to be an irritant. But sometimes there's one target that just shines a little brighter on certain players than others. Number 23 for the rangers, he's one of them. We saw barkov take a couple hits in game one. Fox knows he's going to be a huge target for the panthers. When's vulnerable like that, you know mikkola will lay it on him. >> John: chytil comes up with the puck. Back for schneider. Zibanejad around the boards to the point. Schneider shot deflected wide and bobrovsky will put a glove on it. >> Garry: fox has played two rounds of the playoffs and now in his third. This is a guy that will take a lot of hits and a lot of pucks. There is no doubt about it. He got a big guy -- he's not a big guy, but he's smart. He's intelligent. He knows he won't put himself in super vulnerable spots. He'll protect himself. He'll get the puck moving quickly so he doesn't have to take extra hits. When you make yourself vulnerable, when you go down the wall to get a puck you know you have to reach for, you know you're vulnerable and will take a hilt. You know it's coming. Take a hit.

>>> Off the boards and out. Bennett looking for it. That ends up out of play. >> Garry: the florida panthers defence doesn't get enough credit. We look at a lot of "d" corps, and florida panthers' "d" corps puts up good numbers. They're very hard to get to the net. They insulate bobrovsky very well. And they let him see a lot of pucks. If you can see pucks, you'll stop most of them. They're physical. You know, really like the way they play as a unit. Those six guys, they're the guise they use. >> John: puck thrown in front and it was loose. Cuylle couldn't get a stick on it. Rodrigues will carry it out. And he's knocked over by cuylle at centre ice. Bennett goes after gustafsson. Oh, big hit. Kulikov came across the line and knocked down wennberg! >> Garry: I think that's a tough late. I do believe that's going to be a touch late. Wennberg is trying to figure it out. I'm not sure he'll have time. He may have to go to the locker room. Kulikov is coming across and the puck is gone. I can the puck is probably six, eight feet ahead of him -- I think -- when he takes him out. Because his head is down, this is full impact to the side of his head, and kulikov will get two and maybe more as he comes across. Wennberg touches the puck, but the puck goes off a stick and leaves the zone, and kulikov says, you know what, I'm going to finish this anyway and send a message. And he did that. We'll see the kind of price he'll pay for it. I don't know if you remember the hit McEVOY threw on reinhart in boston in game five. It was like a minute or so into the game. He came across. And that was close. [ Whistle blows ] this one here, peter laviolette knows it. This will be closes. They'll check this for a ranger -- close. >> John: yeah, chris rooney and francois st. Laurent with the call. >> Referee: play is under review for a five-minute penalty. >> John: and they will review it, of course. >> Garry: this is going to be close. There's no doubt kulikov is a bigger guy and wennberg is leaning forward so his head is down laurent. So the question is does his body -- even though his arm gets him, does his body aiming in the middle frame of wennberg and he just happens -- his head happens to make contact with him or does he move that right arm into the head area of wennberg and that's what they'll be looking at. Everything happens so fast. We're showing this in slow motion, but at live speed as the game is going on, that's what the referees will figure out. [ Whistle blows ] >> John: here's the decision. >> Referee: after review, number 7 for florida has two minutes for interference. [ Booing ] >> Garry: so what they're saying is that his intent was the main frame of renberg's body, and it just was unfortunate that his head took partially -- took a partial part of the contact. And that's a decision they make after they've looked at it. I would think the spotter is going to relieve him from the bench any time soon now. I think he's going to have to go to the locker room. They won't have his services. I would be shocked if he has to stay here and come out and play another shift. >> John: well, power play for new york as fox has it back at centre. Rangers 1 for 12 in the last five games on the power play. But they could certainly use juan right now -- use one right now to keep this garden crowd going as fox hands it off for trocheck. Over to zibanejad. Broken up. Reinhart will race after it. Panthers' bench wanted a call on the hold as shesterkin makes the save and the puck gets cleared to centre. Forsling will dump it back in. >> Garry: you have to be so careful making plays five feet inside the blue line. 'cause that's where florida puts a ton of pressure on you. >> John: trocheck trying to get it back for kreider. Zibanejad got it across off the stick of panarin. Cleared out. Panarin is there. He'll back up with it. Now rolls it up for kreider. Slides it back. Luostarinen was there. And he gets in the way a second time. Now luostarinen to force the rangers back into their own end. Kreider has it. Under a minute to go in the power play. Kreider up ahead for trocheck. Crossing in. Drops it back. Panarin with it to the point. Zibanejad looks to the net. He'll give it off for panarin. Now feeds it over in the middle. Quick shot there by gustafsson, missed. He gets it back. And now feeds it back to the wing. Here's zibanejad with it. Back for gustafsson. Shooting! That one may have tipped off of kreider on the way through. Zibanejad for gustafsson. 25 seconds to go in the power play. Zibanejad with a shot. Kreider tipped that one.
