moment of vindication. >> Reporter: patricia jagger is feeling there could be light at the end of the tunnel in her fight with bell. >> Giving you a taste of the island flavor. >> Reporter: the former c.p.-24 host has alleged a pattern of racism, sexism, and discrimination during her 11 years at bell, including allegations that she and other women were paid significantly less than men. She filed a human rights complaint against the company at the the end of 2022, and now a new report shared by her legal team indicates her case is being taken seriously. In the report, the canadian human rights commission recommends her case be scheduled for a hearing if it can't be settled in four months. There is a strong public interest around the case. Jaggernaught says the report is validating. >> I cried when I saw this because it is two years of people thinking that it is not true. It is two years of me fighting. It is two years of hearing other people's stories, and people thinking that our stories don't matter. To get this final report in the moment when I was, like, kathryn, what are we going to do, was so validating. >> Reporter: jaggernaught's lawyer says she has not seen the commission respond to a case in this before. >> What is unusual is to see language that is just so adamant that what happened here with my client, with patricia, was wrong. And that this is just the tip of the iceberg. >> Reporter: the report also points to one of many pieces of evidence she provided to the commission, including a letter written by one of her female colleagues to their union in 2019. Jaggernaught's legal team provided cbc toronto with that letter. It is written on behalf of three female hosts. It states that the company clearly does not take our concerns seriously. Bell media told cbc news the company respects the commission's process and will not comment publicly, adding: "bell media takes allegations of any potential discrimination or workplace misconduct very seriously and is committed to a safe, inclusive, and respectful work environment, where employees can thrive. If a matter is brought to our attention, where an employee did not feel adequately supported, a process is initiated to review and address when required." as for what is next, jaggernaught says she is open to hearing from bell, but so far has heard nothing. Still, she is sending them a clear message. >> Are you listening to the people? Are you giving the community, who is actually watching your programme, wants? You're not. >> Omar: a world-wide shortage is making the price of olive oil spike here in canada. It comes as growers grapple with drought and other effects of climate change. And experts warn of further hikes. >> Reporter: dubbed "liquid gold" by some, the price of olive oil is surging on shelves across canada. But that spike, no deterrent for some. >> You don't need a lot. To be honest, I'm willing to pay the price because I would rather have the quality. >> Reporter: still, rising olive oil prices have other shoppers thinking twice. >> It is almost getting to the point where if it gets worse, you just won't buy it anymore. >> Reporter: drought in europe gefs stating devastating all crops. >> And experts say climate change mean high prices could be here to stay. >> I think it is already considered as a luxury item at the grocery store. It certainly is a luxury verb vegetable oil. >> We only produce about 25% of the olive oil that we normally produce. >> Reporter: and business at this alberta-based company that produces olive oil in greece... >> Challenge because it is more expensive to produce it. We now have to invest the capital. And also a challenge to sell it to costumers. >> Reporter: back at the market, a warning that prices could go up again in the fall. >> They're predicting 45% to

50. Increase. >> Reporter: and some advice for those facing olive oil sticker shock. Is there anything the people can do? >> There are a couple of options: they can either purchase an olive oil that is maybe not extra virgin, or they can opt for a blend of olive oil, like this one right here, which is a mixture of sunflower oil and olive oil. >> Reporter: like all gold, cheaper when it is diluted. >> Omar: hurricane season officially begins next week. The N.O.A.A. is predicting an exceptionally active storm season. >> This season is looking to be an extraordinary one in a number of ways, based on our data and models with the el niño/la niña playing out. >> Omar: near record-warm ocean temperatures will produce some severe weather. Somewhere between eight to 13 hurricanes are anticipated, and several will be major. Last year's season was one of the most active on record, with 20 named storms and three major hurricanes. Canadians waters typically see about 35% of the storms that form in the atlantic. Taking another look at our local weather forecast: partly cloudy tonight, and then we've got a mix of sun and cloud tomorrow. Now, that sunny, warm pattern that seems to stay with us right through the weekend, just perfect for enjoying some outdoor activities. Get out there if you can, because monday, that is expected to bring rain and slightly cooler temperatures. We could see about 25 millimetres of rain on monday. More rain is forecast, and that's coming our way on tuesday and again on wednesday.
