I lost a brother. And I just, I can't, I feel like I can't admit it to myself, you know, because if I do, then it's like... I'll never be able to be happy again... and I wanna be happy again. Mitch and I are getting married. - Wow! That... Congratulations. Lou, that's amazing. Good for you. That's... (Dry chuckle) I actually just... broke up with Jen. - What? - She, um, she wanted to move in with me in Vancouver, and I guess she had it all planned out. The problem was I had no idea, so... She just kinda... dropped it all on me and um... so yeah, that's over. (Chuckles) - (Laughs) We are such self-destructive losers. Both: (Laughing) - You're right, we are. (Chuckles) - Do you think we'll ever just... allow ourselves to be happy again? - I hope so. You deserve it. (Blows out his breath) (Birds chirp, Remy barks in the distance) (Vehicle approaches) - Hey, Lyndy, can you go in and play with Katie for a minute? I'm just gonna talk to Nana Lily, okay? - 'Kay! - Thanks, sweetie! (Car door opens) - Hey! Where'd you get off to this morning? - Amy, I'm sorry. Don't kill me. You are the one that told me to call Wade. I did, and I happened to mention how amazing Howler was doing, how you fixed him. I remember that you said that Howler wasn't ready to race. I told Wade that, but... there was a race this morning and he entered him - news to me. - You've gotta be kidding me. - But it's okay! Guess why. Because he won! He... he won big. (Laughs excitedly) So I want you to have it, please. Might be, I dunno, it can make up for some of last year, and... or at least all of the hard work that you've done working with-- - I'm not taking this, Lily. Okay? If you think that money can make up for everything that's happened in the last year, then you are out of your mind. You need to get outta here. Leave, please, Lily. - I didn't choose to be away from you, Amy. I came here to tell you that. That I had no choice. None. You said you'd figure out what was wrong with Howler. Well, guess what? The horse needed help to get over his trauma. He needed help from you, from a specialist. Well, so did I. I lost my son and I needed help. So, why can't you understand that need in people when you can see it so well in horses? (Door bangs shut, engine starts) (Car rumbles backwards, gravel crunches under tires) (Car rumbles away) (Whoosh) - (Whispers) I'm sorry. (Multiple explosions boom and rumble) (Mickey whinnies in panic) - Mickey! Come back! Mickey! (Loud explosion booms) (Grunts softly, another explosion booms) (Flames whoosh) (Dramatic music plays)

[ ] >> Natasha: hello, everyone. Welcome inside the cbc news room. I'm natasha fatah. We're about to take you to washington. The government has just detailed a lawsuit against ticketmaster and its parent company, accusing them of running a monopolyon concert tickets and passing the charges onto fans. >>> We also have breaking news on one of canada's worst environmental disasters, one that has been making people of grassy narrows first nations sick for decades. From 1962 to 1975, 9,000 kilograms of mercury were dumped into the river system. Methyl mercury accumulates in fish and then poisons the people who eat that fish. It can cause neuromuscular problems and even leads to death. The CBCs meagan fitzpatrick was at the announcement earlier today and has more. Meagan, what can you tell us? >> Reporter: this report was made for the grassy narrows first nation, various levels of government, as well, and the chairman says he's sharing these findings publicly with the approval of the council because of the sense of urgency what they found in the study. We've known for a long time that the river was essentially contaminated with mercury, making the residents of grassy narrows sick. The waste that's being pumped into the river, finding that that waste has high levels of sulphate and organic matter, and when that mixes with the sediment of the river bed, that produces methyl mercury, and it pollutes the fish in the river, and those fish are eaten by the residents of grassy narrows. What they're saying is the high concentrations of sulphate and organic matter, it's fuelling the production of methyl mercury in a much higher level than they expected when they conducted this study. >> If we reduce the amount of sullivan sulphate and organic matter, take those two ingredients out of the reaction, then mercury levels in fish will come down. >> Reporter: now he's not in this report listing out a set of recommendations. That's not his area of expertise in terms of recommendation policy and remediation, but as you heard him say, what's happening isn't helping the problem, which has been existing for decades, and so he's hoping that people pay attention to the findings of this report. He thinks that his few that the -- view that the best available science should be applied to tackling these problems. >> Natasha: what kind of reaction are you seeing? >> Reporter: well, we reached out to the mill who said they can't provide a response until they see the findings. Here's the chief of the grassy narrows first nations? >> Well, we were disappointed. The people always felt like there was being more poured into their river and we're concerned about it, but it is very, like I said, disappointing. >> Reporter: members of the

community there have been arguing for years for compensation. The community has been fighting for a care home, a methyl mercury care home. Part of the response that we've heard from the government is reiterating the commitment to get that home built for residents residents in grassy narrows. >> Natasha: take a look at this, folks. This is the aftermath of a strike in gaza. 35 people were killed overnight in aerial and plane bomb bombardments. Reuters news agencies says the attacks have caused a new exodus of palestinians. >>> The federal government has just tabled legislation to extend citizenship to some children of canadian parents who are born outside of the country. Immigration minister marc miller spoke just last hour. Here the CBCs janyce McGREGOR was covering this story and has more. >> Reporter: we've seen a number of rule changes over the years trying to clarify what you need to do and where you need to be born in order to get canadian citizen. This was one that the government needed to make, its hand forced by an ontario superior court decision. It gave the government six months to change the rules -- >> Natasha: sorry, folks. We're going to interrupt that report and take you to washington. The U.S. government is announcing the launch of the lawsuit against live nation, the parent company of ticketmaster and other organizations. >> We are not here today because live nation-ticketmaster's conduct is inconvenient or frustrating. We are here because, as we allege, that conduct is anticompetitive or illegal. Our complaint makes clear what happens when a monopolus insulates itself from competition rather than investing in better products and services. We allege that live nation has illegally monopolized ticket prices across the nation for far too long and it's time to break it up. Ticketmaster is ubiquitous in the concert ticket industry. It directly manages more than 400 artists and controls more than 60% of concert promotions across the country, and it owns or controls more than 60% of large amphitheatres across the united states. Live nation relies on unlawful conduct to continue its monopolistic control over ticket prices in the united states, and the result is fans pay more in fees, artists have fewer opportunities to play concerts, smaller promoters get squeezed out, and venues have fewer choices for ticketing prices. Ticketmaster has long-term concert prices with venues and they can impose a seemingly endless list of fees on fans. Those include ticketing fees, service fees, convenience fees, platinum fees, price master fees, per-order fees, handling fees, and payment processing fees among others.
