THE INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE HAS ORDERED ISRAEL TO HALT ITS OFFENSIVE AGAINST THE SOUTHERN GAZA CITY OF RAFAH. IT'S THE LATEST ORDER FROM THE COURT AND THE MOST SERIOUS SINCE JANUARY WHEN IT AGREED TO HEAR A CASE BROUGHT BY SOUTH AFRICA. >> ISRAEL MUST IMMEDIATELY HALT ITS MILITARY OFFENSE AND ANY OTHER ACTION IN THE RAFAH AREA. >> Reporter: THE INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE CALLED FOR THE RAFAH BORDER CROSSING TO BE OPENED. IT'S BEEN CLOSED SINCE COMING UNDER ISRAELI CONTROL EARLIER THIS MONTH, SPARKING CONCERNS AMONG AID GROUPS THAT THE ROUTE FOR AID HAS BEEN CUTOFF.

the I.C.J. judges said new measures were necessary because the situation in gaza had deteriorated, describing it as disastrous. The court also found that israeli evacuation orders left palestinians vulnerable. Living in temporary shelters, many of them don't have access to clean water or sanitation. South africa, who brought the case against israel, has called it ground breaking and stronger than previous judgments by the I.C.J. it says it will ask the united nations security council to take stronger action. Hamas says the ruling should have gone further, but it has promised to cooperate with any investigators that enter gaza. >>> Israeli officials have reacted strongly to the news. A spokesperson said stopping the war against hamas would be suicide. Israel has already vowed to ignore any international court orders that call for an end to fighting. It argues its offensive is aimed at rooting out hamas and protecting israeli security. Julia chapman, cbc news, london. >> Amy: the israeli military announced today it had recovered three more bodies in gaza, victims of the october 7 hamas attacks. >> Their bodies were recovered during a special operation based on precise intelligence in the area of gaza. >> Amy: all three were killed in israel then taken to gaza. >>> The bus driver responsible for causing the 2019 humboldt bus crash has been ordered to be deported. Erin collins has more. >> Reporter: today's order was not a surprise for sidhu. Sidhu was behind the wheel of the truck that back into the humboldt broncos bus back in 2019. Sentenced to eight years in prison, those two facts, sidhu not being a canadian citizen and his connection for a serious crime made today's deportation order mandatory and one that can't be appealed. >> It doesn't matter if they're a career criminal or they did one momentary lapse, like my client. It doesn't matter if they arrived yesterday or if they've been here for ten years, like my client and are well established. Family ties are irrelevant. My client has a canadian wife and a canadian child. >> Reporter: but his client is not done fighting to stay here. He is planning to apply to be allowed to stay on humanitarian and compassionate grounds because his wife and his child are here. >> I'd like to see compassion triumph here. >> Reporter: families of those who died in the humboldt crash are mixed. Some want to see sidhu removed from canada, others say they're okay if he stays. It's unclear how long that permanent residency application will take. It could take years, and sidhu could be deported before that decision is made. >> Amy: if you have a child on one or more wait lists for daycare. You're not alone. Demand is sky rocketing across the country for $10 a day child care. Marina von stackelberg has that story. >> Reporter: sherry reigar's daughters are on daycare wait lists. >> Some of them are saying they won't have a spot for, like, two or three years. >> Reporter: it's been three years since the federal government signed its last deal with provinces to spent tens of millions of dollars to increase child care spots and eventually cut the money that parents pay to $10 a day. Some daycare providers have quit taking part, and that's created growing pains. >> We hear from parents that want to access it that are having trouble finding spaces. >> Reporter: providers say they are struggling to operate the spots they already have. The funding hasn't kept up with inflation, and the need to pay child care workers a liveable wage. >> We do need to take into consideration those costs, and those will only increase as the demand goes up. >> Reporter: as part of the deal, daycares can't raise their fees, an option that they had in the past to offset costs. Some child care providers who ask access those costs have threatened to -- can access those costs have threatened to pull out of the programme if they're not available to get the money. It's hard to know exactly how many child care spaces are needed. Each daycare has some wait lists, and many families are on multiple, but the latest data from statistics canada shows half of canadian families now report struggling to find a spot. >> The funding it great, it's a great incentive to get us moms back to work, but if I can't access it, what's the point? >> Reporter: adding to sherry's anxiety, she's expecting her third child this fall. She doesn't have a name yet, but she's already on the wait list. Marina von stackelberg, cbc news, ottawa. >> Amy: red lobster is seeking bankruptcy protection in the U.S. and now is doing the same here. Sophia harris has more. >> Reporter: red lobster has
