They're filing for bankruptcy in the united states. Cbc's sophia harris has more. >> Reporter: the casual dining chain that serves up seafood to the masses is in hot water. Red lobster has filed for bankruptcy protection in the U.S. and is in the process of doing the same in canada cbc news has learned. Already, the chain has shut down close to 100 U.S. locations, putting hundreds out of work. >> Kind of a nightmare because it's just like being separated from something you've been part of your life for 40 years. >> Reporter: there are 27 red lobsters in canada which employ around 2,000 workers. Their fate is not yet known as the chain grapples with hundreds of millions of dollars of debt. >> They filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection which gives them a lot of runway to figure out whether they are going to continue to operate in canada. [ ] >> Reporter: there is speculation red lobster got into deep debt by offering all-you-can-eat shrimp in the U.S. but some experts say the 56-year-old chain faltered by not changing with the times. >> Red lobster, popular with the boomers and the older demographics, but really did not do anything to attract that younger consumer through any innovation and just upscaling overall. >> Reporter: red lobster's canadian restaurants remain open and loyal customers hope it stays that way. >> One of my favourite spots to eat. >> I hope they can restructure everything and keep her going. It is the follow up to "fury road." this time anya taylor-joy is in the film as well as chris hemsworth. Eli glasner gave "fury road" a full five stars and he's back to see if the remake is just as

good. You liked the last one. Does it live up to the hype? >> Eli: you got me caught in my own trap. Yes, "furiosa" is existing in a world we already visited back to the wasteland telling a story of how a girl became the woman who was furiosa played by charlize theron. If hollywood has to keep making is he equals, and preequals, let it be as mad and rajs and creative as "furiosa: a mad max saga." bringing us back to the world of guns and grime, desert and dust, the wasteland. The only world you can have charks with names like scrotus, jeg, tortoise. It's like an iron maiden cover that has come to life. I will tell you, no word of a life, I sat in the theatre and was transfixed. When the movie ended, I stood up to leave and I was limping. I was so enraptured that I just froze because I wanted to take it all in. I'm broken now, I don't know why. I'm not complaining because I was very happy. >> Natasha: oh wow. Let's talk about the actual story then. Where does this story start? >> Eli: so we start with young furiosa. So we start with furiosa as a girl actually played by aliah brown. She lives in a place that is like a hidden paradise in the middle of this wasteland, this desert. Now, she is captured by some scavengers. Her mother sees what's happening, jumps on a horse and chases after. Within minutes of this movie opening, we are already off to the races. There is the mom, she catches up. Things are looking dire. So she forces furiosa to commit. Take a look. >> Whatever you have to do, however long it takes, promise me you'll find your way home. Let this be, protect the green place. Give me this one gift. >> Eli: that is a heck of a gift to give a 12-year-old, now alone, now abandoned, far from home, and now the prisoner of dr. Dementus. Let's meet that guy. >> Who do we have here? >> She's from a place of abundance. >> What's your name? [ ] >> Tomorrow we'll follow the tracks that brought you here and I'll take you on. >> Eli: I know it looks like some warped version of jesus christ superstar. That is merry christmas hemsworth as the doctor in question with that big nose. What is great about dr. Dementus, this warlord, we know hems worth as a handsome and charming guy and a thor, it weaponizes his charisma. Now he is a maniacal sadist leading this gang of bikers has captured furiosa. When he hears there is another warlord, you remember from the previous film morton joe, he's got water and food and women, dementus wants come of that and leads his biker gang to attack. >> Bring them to me and fry them down. You'll rule with me in the splendour of a new land. >> Eli: he looks like a sand-swept pirate. I love it. Now you have these two warlords bashing heads and in the middle of that chaos and bike exhaust is young furiosa waiting, biding her time. >> Natasha: all right. It's time for the review. Double-pronged question for you, eli. What's your view? Does this movie measure up? I've never seen a mad max movie. I'm not saying it in a snobby way. Can I start with furiosa or do I need to go in the order? >> Eli: I think you can start with furiosa because it starts with the wasteland, post-apocalyptic setting and this young girl. Even if you don't appreciate where it is heading, you'll be taken by the story. Compare it to fury road it is split into different chapters. We have some familiar characters returning, the chrome-covered boys that we see in that battle scene. One thing that maybe will make you dip your toe in the waters of mad max. This sequence is 20 minutes long

and it took them eight months to film this amazing scene where furiosa is on this war rig repelling invaders, there are flying paradeployeders dropping, now if this was all the movie, just the speckcle and all the carnage, that would be fun and shallow. What makes this special is anya taylor-joy as the woman in question, as furiosa. And almost a silent movie. She barely talks. She has 30 lines. She doesn't need anything. Look at those eyes. She is -- her fuel is revenge. That is her high-octane, unleded fuel source. She is a woman on a mission. That is the man she is on a mission for and it is a remarkable, elemental performance with her and then dr. Dementus, these are two souls that have been warped by the wasteland and that is what makes this such a special ride. Would you like my star rating? >> Natasha: yes, please. >> Eli: all right, star rating is 4.5 stars out of 5. Half a star deducted just for lack of originality. It is a party and a riot.
