Casadei: Napoli overtake Torino in pursuit of Chelsea midfielder
According to reports from Sky Sport Italia and several other outlets in Italy, Napoli are now leading the race to sign Italy U21 star Cesare Casadei from Premier League side Chelsea during the January transfer window.
Napoli leading race for Casadei
Several Serie A sides have been following the former Inter youth product, including Torino, Fiorentina, Lazio and Monza, but Antonio Conte’s Napoli are now ‘pushing’ to get a deal done with the West Londoners.
Reports at the end of last week suggested that Casadei has given his approval to a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge.
Reports from the BBC claimed that Torino formally submitted a bid for the 21-year-old on Tuesday morning.
While a specific transfer fee has not yet been disclosed, it is understood that a potential deal between Napoli and Fiorentina for the departure of Michael Folorunsho has cleared up space in the Partenopei budget for a new midfielder.
Napoli are currently on top of the Serie A table, but are looking to add a defender and a new midfield option to their ranks to bolster Conte’s options for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign.
