Carson Rehkopf Dominant In First Meeting With His Former Team
During the Summer, the Kitchener Rangers traded former 50-goal scorer Carson Rehkopf to Brampton in exchange for a whopping 10 picks. On Friday, Rehkopf faced his former team for the first time since the trade.
Not only did Brampton come away with a 5-2 victory, but Rehkopf scored a pair of goals and added an assist on his way to a three-point night.
With the score 1-0 in favor of Brampton, Rehkopf collected the puck behind the net and swung it in front for Dallas Stars' prospect Angus MacDonell who shot it bar down. Due to injuries, MacDonell, Rehkopf and Porter Martone have been unable to play as a trio this season. However, this play showed what many expected from the three coming into the year.

They connected on a tic-tac-toe passing play later in the period to make it 4-0 for the Steelheads. This time, MacDonell entered the zone and wound into the middle before feeding Martone on the right side. The 2025 Draft-eligible Martone streaked toward the net before hitting Rehkopf on the backdoor for a tap-in.
The Seattle Kraken prospects' second goal was an empty-netter that came during the dying minute of the third period. The insurance marker made the score 5-2 in favor of the Steelheads.
It was a solid night for the entire Steelheads' roster. Mason Zebeski and MacGregor Richmond scored goals while eight players came away from the contest with at least a point.
Jack Ivankovic was a brick wall in the net stopping 35 of 37 shots. More than a handful of those saves came in odd-man situations and several more would have been goals had it not been Ivankovic between the pipes. At the end of the game, the young goaltender's efforts were recognized in the form of the first star.
The Steelheads have work to do in the second half of the season if they want to climb the standings. Their 18-15-6-0 record has them ranked seventh in the Eastern Conference.
