Carragher picks four Champions League favourites: ‘I think Inter could win it’
Jamie Carragher believes that Inter are one of the four teams capable of winning the Champions League this season, after the Nerazzurri temporarily rose to the top of the League Phase standings on Tuesday night.
Inter picked up a 1-0 win at home against RB Leipzig to make it four victories in a row in Europe, also maintaining their unbeaten record and their impressive feat of zero goals conceded.
Assessing their performance on CBS Sports Golazo after full-time, Carragher, Champions League winner with Liverpool in 2005, claimed that Inter are one of four teams capable of going all the way.
Carragher: ‘I think Inter could win it’
“They are potential winners, I think Inter could win it,” Carragher said on Tuesday’s CBS broadcast.
He continued: “When they got to the final against Manchester City, I looked at how they played in that final. And then last season, I thought they were very unlucky to go out, I thought they were one of the few teams that could maybe stop City.
“When you think of the best teams in this competition, you always go to City and Real Madrid, you always feel like one of them are going to win it. Liverpool weren’t in it last season, they’re back in it. I think the other team, I’d say Inter Milan, they’re the four teams I think can win it.”

Inter temporarily lead the Champions League standings with 13 points from their first five matches of the competition.
Liverpool are the only one of the four teams that Carragher mentioned who could catch the Nerazzurri by the end of the round. Coincidentally, they play against Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid at Anfield on Wednesday night.
Manchester City, meanwhile, ‘fell’ to a shock draw at home against Feyenoord on Tuesday night, despite having led by three with 15 minutes remaining and are now 15th in the table with two wins, one draw and two losses on their record.
