Carolina Hurricanes Recall Ty Smith & Tyson Jost From Chicago

The Carolina Hurricanes have recalled forward Tyson Jost and defenseman Ty Smith from the Chicago Wolves, it was announced Sunday.

Both players began the season with the Wolves, with Jost collecting three points in eight games and Smith putting up two points in three games.

Hailing from St. Albert, Alta., Jost was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the first round of the 2016 NHL Draft. A veteran of 456 career NHL regular season games, Jost spent last season splitting time between the Buffalo Sabres and the Rochester Americans.

Having played for the Avalanche, Sabres, and the Minnesota Wild throughout his NHL career, Jost has scored 57 goals and added 83 assists for 140 points.

Drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the first round of the 2018 NHL Draft, Smith spent the 2023-24 season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. A Lloydminster, Alta., native, Smith has collected 47 points in 123 career NHL games with the Devils and Pittsburgh Penguins.

Although it is yet to be seen whether they will see a game for the Hurricanes, Smith and Jost have both proven to be able to play a role for their respective NHL teams throughout their careers. Both players are still serviceable depth players and would be good additions to the Hurricanes lineup.
