Carolina Hurricanes Forward Out Month-to-Month Following Surgery

The Carolina Hurricanes have been without forward William Carrier for a few weeks now, but it seems like they'll be without for even longer now.

Following Friday's practice, Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour confirmed that Carrier had surgery for a lower-body injury and would be sidelined for at least a couple of months.

"He's going to be long term now,' Brind'Amour said. "Not sure how long, but it's going to be, I would say, a couple months. Maybe more. We just don't know how long the recovery is going to be."

Carrier, who had four goals and nine points in 39 games with the Hurricanes, has missed the team's last 10 games after being a game-time decision on Jan. 5.

He played the entire game before on Jan. 4 and Brind'Amour had stated then that he was "iffy" but wasn't too concerned with his overall status.

However, it seems like there was a bigger problem underneath it all as he's now projected to miss multiple months.

Carrier leaves a decent hole in the Canes' lineup as the large-framed forward was leading the team in hits and was a perfect complementary fit on the team's shutdown line.

With Carrier sidelined, the team will more than likely be expanding their search on the trade market in the coming weeks.
