The latest transfer request passed by Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti to the club’s board has not been met with the response which he no doubt hoped for.

That’s according to The Athletic, who have on Tuesday provided an insight into the situation.

Ancelotti, it is understood, recently touched base with the brass in Spain’s capital, regarding what he feels are necessary defensive reinforcements in his squad.

The Italian’s central-defensive options are not exactly many at present, following the departure of Nacho, and Real’s failed pursuit of Leny Yoro.

As a result, Ancelotti, understandably, ‘has asked for a reinforcement in the position’.

Unfortunately for the former AC Milan and Chelsea boss, however, his request has fallen on deaf ears in the Santiago Bernabéu boardroom.

As per The Athletic’s report:

‘The club have told the Italian they have confidence in his ability to make the best use of limited resources and the situation will be reviewed after December.’

It now remains to be seen whether Florentino Pérez and co. live to regret this call…
