Carlo Ancelotti confirms Real Madrid’s transfer plans… and fans won’t be happy

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has on Wednesday provided an insight into the club’s plans for the remainder of the summer transfer window.

And the club’s supporters are altogether unlikely to be pleased by the news to have been laid out by their manager.

This comes amid confirmation that Los Blancos do not intend to dip back into the market for reinforcements with a view to the season ahead.

Real’s squad, of course, has been reinforced by way of a pair of headline attacking arrivals thus far this summer, Kylian Mbappé and Endrick adding further to a star-studded frontline in Spain’s capital.

And yet, the widespread consensus, until now, has been that the La Liga champions could do with bringing in some fresh blood at the other end of the pitch, too.

With Nacho having opted to move on, David Alaba sidelined long-term, and chief target Leny Yoro now plying his trade with Manchester United, the aforementioned Ancelotti’s options at centre-half have all of a sudden begun looking rather thin.

Fans of Los Merengues, as a result, have long begun calling for reinforcements to be brought in at the heart of defence.

As much, however, will not be forthcoming.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of Real Madrid’s friendly meeting with AC Milan on Thursday, Carlo Ancelotti was asked for the latest on the plans of the transfer team at the Santiago Bernabéu.

And the Italian went on to confirm that:

“The squad is closed. We won’t sign anyone. Vallejo is back and Alaba is recovering. I think there won’t be departures because no one wants to leave.”
