Capitals vs. Kraken Preview: Line Combinations, Stats, Storylines To Watch
The Washington Capitals have been finding ways to win of late, and when they haven't, they at least pick up points. On Thursday, they have the opportunity to win six straight games for the first time since 2020-21 while becoming the first team to hit 70 points this season as they continue their road swing against the Seattle Kraken.
Here's everything to know before puck drop at 10 p.m. ET.
Washington Capitals Line Combinations
The Capitals will have one big lineup change, as Charlie Lindgren will return to the crease in his first appearance since being injured on Jan. 10. Logan Thompson has started the last five games, putting up impressive numbers to boot.
Other than that, there could be some lineup changes, though none are expected as coach Spencer Carbery hopes the team can figure out its 5-on-5 offense.
Here are the combinations:
Alex Ovechkin-Dylan Strome-Connor McMichael
Aliaksei Protas-Pierre-Luc Dubois-Tom Wilson
Taylor Raddysh-Lars Eller-Ethen Frank
Brandon Duhaime-Nic Dowd-Andrew Mangiapane
Rasmus Sandin-John Carlson
Martin Fehervary-Matt Roy
Jakob Chychrun-Trevor van Riemsdyk
Charlie Lindgren
Logan Thompson
Washington Capitals Stats
- Pierre-Luc Dubois has five points in his last four games and leads the Capitals in scoring since Nov. 10 with 24 points over the last 29 games.
- Aliaksei Protas has points in back-to-back games as he continues his impressive season, as does Connor McMichael.
- Tom Wilson hit the 20-goal mark back on Tuesday, marking the fourth time in his career he's reached this feat. He also has points in two straight games.
Washington Capitals Storylines
- Alex Ovechkin is looking to get back to his high-scoring ways as he sits 21 goals away from passing Wayne Gretzky for the most goals in NHL history.
- Ethen Frank started his stint in D.C. on a high note, and Carbery is looking for him and his third line to get back to that.
- Matt Roy scored last game, so watch for the blue line to get involved offensively as well.
- Also watch for Dylan Strome to bust out. He's overdue for a goal.
