Capitals Notebook: Mangiapane & Duhaime Arrive In D.C., Miroshnichenko Skates Before Showcase, Speed, Skating & Defensive Play

ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals continue to make their way to MedStar Capitals Iceplex ahead of the 2024-25 season, and new forwards Andrew Mangiapane and Brandon Duhaime headlined the latest skaters to arrive in D.C. for informal skates on Wednesday.

Mangiapane and Duhaime both put in work during the informal workout sessions, showcasing their respective skill sets in the scrimmage and skating sessions.

Washington acquired Mangiapane from the Calgary Flames ahead of the 2024 NHL Draft to add more speed and offense to the top 6 and then added Duhaime on the opening day of free agency to fill Beck Malenstyn's role on the fourth line.

Mangiapane stood out with his speed and shot, as well as his attention to detail at both ends of the ice. Meanwhile, Duhaime was showing off his physicality and defensive play over the course of the session.

Also joining in the mix was Ivan Miroshnichenko, who is taking part in the NHLPA Rookie Showcase by Upper Deck on Wednesday. The 20-year-old was in high spirits as he took the ice with his team, and it was evident from his skating that he put in quite a bit of work this offseason.
