Capitals' Mite on Ice scores great goal, delivers better celebration (Video)
One of the best intermission entertainment ideas in sports is putting a bunch of little kids on the ice/field/court and letting them play while the pros are taking a rest. Monday night in Washington, one mite on ice got his chance to shine.
Little Micha, who’s favorite player is Alex Ovechkin, had a breakaway opportunity and went forehand, backhand before beating the goaltender gloveside. That wasn’t even the best part. Check out his celebration.
“I felt so happy,” Micha said during an intermission interview. “It was my first year scoring a goal in the Caps’ stadium.”
This should be enough to earn Micha an invite to another Mites on Ice session at a future Capitals home game — mainly because we want to see if he’ll break out the hot stick or jump into the glass celebration that’s been perfected by his idol.
