Capitals' Garnet Hathaway suspended 3 games for spitting at Erik Gudbranson
Washington Capitals forward Garnet Hathaway has been suspended three games without pay for spitting at Erik Gudbranson.
The incident went down during Monday’s Capitals-Ducks contest. Chaos broke loose near the end of the second period and Hathaway, appearing to react to a sucker-ish punch from Gudbranson, responded by horking a big ol’ loogie at the Anaheim blue liner.

Hathaway was given a match penalty and immediately ejected from the game. He’ll miss the Capitals next three contests versus the Rangers, Canucks and Panthers.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Hathaway will forfeit a little more than $24,000 in salary, with the money going directly to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
