Capello joked with Ancelotti about Real Madrid sacking rumours
Former Italian coach Fabio Capello joked with Carlo Ancelotti about rumours that Real Madrid could sack him: ‘You are going to eat the Panettone…’
Ancelotti released an interview with Sky Sport Italia on Tuesday after a 3-2 win against Atalanta.
At the very end of the interview, Capello, a two-time La Liga winner at the Bernabeu, joked with his compatriot: “No worries, you are going to eat the Panettone.”

It’s a typical Italian expression mostly related to coaches in trouble in the first part of the season. When they don’t get to “eat the Panettone,” a typical Italian Christmas dessert, it means they are sacked before December 25.
Ancelotti heard Capello and smiled and replied: “Non è poco”, which means “It’s already enough”, before leaving the interview in a good mood and wishing everyone a good Christmas.
Reports in Spain in November suggested Real Madrid had considered sacking Ancelotti after a poor run of results in the Champions League and La Liga.
The Merengues have won six of the last ten games across all competitions, losing the remaining four.
Ancelotti is under contract at the Bernabeu until June 2026.
