Covent Garden landlord Capco has revealed a number of new lettings in a rare bit of good news for the troubled retail sector.

Capital & Counties Properties said four more brands will open on its estate in December in time for Christmas day. Commitment to invest in new shops comes despite a horrible year for retail, with footfall hurt by lockdowns, and firms having to spend money on making sites ‘Covid-secure’.

The companies that have inked deals include trainers retailer Kick Game, Belgian chocolatier Neuhaus and coat maker Mackintosh.

Vegan cookie firm Floozie Cookie will have a three-month pop up.

Capco added that there are openings from jewellery brand Vashi and restaurant business The Big Mamma Group on the estate in 2021.

The property firm reported the new tenant names as it said it has received a tranche of money, £105 million, due via the £425 million sale of most of its interests in the Earls Court redevelopment scheme last year.

Capco said proceeds will be used to pay down debts which currently stand at around £700 million.
