Canucks rookie sensation Elias Pettersson had himself a lucrative Wednesday

Good things often come in bunches. And in the case of Elias Pettersson, they do so with an associated windfall.

The Vancouver Canucks rookie sensation enjoyed a big day for the bottom line on Wednesday, beginning with $212,500 cashed when named to the Pacific Division’s NHL All-Star team.

Then later on that night, he doubled up on him bonus salary by crossing the 20-goal threshold with a hat-trick goal in overtime versus the Ottawa Senators.

It was damn pretty, too.

Reaching 40 points in his rookie season faster than Connor McDavid and reaching 20 goals faster than Patrik Laine, Pettersson is well on his way to authoring one of the finest rookie seasons we’ve seen out of the tremendous talent that’s entered the league over the last few seasons.

He will have to keep the pedal down, though, to cash in completely on his success.

One of the few entry-level NHLers signed to the maximum allowable bonus structure, Pettersson can secure further $212,500 chunks this year by hitting 35 assists, 60 points, and maintaining a .73 points per game rate throughout the season, among other things.

He should hit those checkpoints soon, but the next, most readily available $212,5000 target in his sights?

That would be All-Star Game MVP.
