Canucks acquire J.T. Miller from Lightning
The Vancouver Canucks have acquired forward J.T. Miller in a trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning, in exchange for goaltender Marek Mazanec, a 2019 third-round pick and a 2020 conditional pick.
Canucks GM Jim Benning explained the provisions of the 2020 pick in a statement, revealing that it converts to a 2021 first-round selection if Vancouver misses the playoffs next spring.

Miller recorded 13 goals and 47 points for the Lightning last season and provides immediate, much-needed depth for the Canucks’ forward corps. The Lightning, in the interim, create some cap space.
The Canucks are taking on the full weight of JT Miller’s contract which has four more years at a $5.25M cap hit. That’s key for cap-challenged Tampa obviously. The Canucks get a real good player though.
